Neal Cavuto is reporting that 79.6% of the Chrysler dealerships that were closed were GOP donors. 20.4% donated to the Democrat Party.
So what percentage of dealership left open were owned by Republican donors?
You need a control group, Neil.
I just saw that too kellynla,
Were you surprised?
The problem with these stats is the simple fact that most Republicans have jobs and businesses. Thus it stands to reason that “80%” of any business closed is going to be Republican, just as 80% of any welfare population is going to be Democrat.
Interesting, but meaningless without data from all dealers.
Yes, what was the ratio of GOP vs Dem in the total population.
I have heard that dealerships were primarily owned by GOP-donors to begin with.
If that's the case, this thing could be a trap.
I’ve read elsewhere that just about 80% of car dealers overall donate to Republicans.
Exactly. Sometimes you wonder why our side is getting its butt kicked...and sometimes you see the evidence.
Pardon the typo, Neal.
Should read “Neal Cavuto.”
Does anyone remember that as well? And who that was/did it get done?
To those who are sophisticated in research-do not forget “diversity” statistics. Especially about a year from now.
We would need to know what the ratio of those left is.
That could also be 70/20.
Another words, if the original makeup was 70/20, then a 70/20 closing wouldn’t mean that much.
Of the 3000 dealerships that are NOT being closed, what percentage of the dealership owners gave to the GOP and what percentage gave to the RATS? Maybe the closings are a hit job. Maybe not. But there is no way that anyone can draw an INTELLIGENT and REASONED conclusion without analyizing both sides of the equation.
Excellent point.
The TOP JEEP dealer in America, Jim Anderer, also a GOP contributor, was just interviewed by Cavuto and Anderer’s JEEP dealership was also eliminated.
many of these closed were in Rural areas also, because those brought in less money than those in the metro areas.
I imagine business owners in the Rural areas will tend to lean to the right a little.
It sucks though. Makes a lot of smug liberals happy. :(
I am interested in the forced closing of Mack McClarty’s competitors. He’s a co-owner of a chain of Southern dealerships and Jimmy Carter’s former Chief of Staff. That sure sounds like the Chicago-style politics I grew up with.
Findings from 538.com breaks down some of the data on all car dealers (Not just Chrysler).
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/05/news-flash-car-dealers-are-republicans.html
Overall, 88 percent of the contributions from car dealers went to Republican candidates and just 12 percent to Democratic candidates. By comparison, the list of dealers on Doug Rosss list gave 92 percent of their money to Republicans.
