Taping tonight's episode of The Late Show, David Letterman took a few minutes to respond to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who called him "pathetic" in a radio interview after he made her and her family the butt of a recent Top 10 list. The late-night host had drawn particular fire from Palin and some pundits for a joke about one of Palin's daughters being impregnated by New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez during a trip to Yankee Stadium. Camp Palin apparently took the joke to be a crack against Palin's 14-year-old daughter Willow, who had recently attended a Yankees game, but Letterman insisted today that the real target was 18-year-old daughter Bristol.
We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter [Bristol]... and now theyre upset with me
Letterman says on tonight's show. "These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl.... Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was okay for her 14-year-old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No." Saying he hopes he's "cleared part of this up," Letterman extended an invitation to Palin to come on the show as a guest.

This should not be a reason to pound Litterman, but I don’t think it would hurt Sarah’s political career if Todd delivered Litterman one solid punch. Litterman could either snivel to the cops and the media about it, or man up. If he snivels, he would look like a whiner and a coward who brought it on himself and would also draw attention to the smears and ongoing vicious attacks the Palins have suffered.
Bustin chops...
Sorry to say, but you are wrong. Letterman in fact deserves a good a$$ whooping. Too many people try to walk away from things like this and it only allows these jerks to continue their BS. An insult to my wife or daughter like that deserves a pounding. A little punishment goes a long way. It lets others know there will be consequences for the same type of behavior. As a society, we can not continue to be weak and keep our heads down. Tolerance only goes so far. THat’s why the 60’s screwed up this county. Too many people were willing to allow things to go unanswered and now look at us.
I’m not “wrong.” Like you, I have an opinion.
Sixties notwithstanding, a brutal beating of litterman by Toddd Palin would be bad, real bad, for Sarah’s future prospects. But the whole country would understand and agree with one, solid roundhouse to liiterman’s jaw that would, presumably, send him sprawling
That’s a good plan.
Chops,
I stand corrected and didn’t intend to say you were wrong, it is just how I speak sometimes. I do believe everyone has a right to their opinion.
However, a good a$$ whooping is still in order. Then let’s see how many of these talk show guys keep insulting women. Like I said, I’m old school.
Understood. Thanks.
