The controversy surrounding journalist Max Blumenthal continues in the wake of the release of his video of intoxicated American Jews in Jerusalem insulting President Barack Obama, but he rejects the claims that the footage fuels anti-Semitism.
The video shows young American Jews, who are apparently very drunk, criticizing Obama for his Mideast policies and describing him in derogatory terms. It has also had more than 400,000 hits on YouTube.
"I have received death threats from people, mainly ones calling me a self-hating Jew. I am self-hating, but my self-hatred has nothing to do with me being Jewish," Blumenthal told Haaretz this week.
Blumenthal says the ad hominem attacks against him and co-producer and cameraman Joseph Dana are being used to obscure the message of the video, and to ignore the statements made by young Jews who could be the relatives of any of us.
"People who feel they have an emotional need to stop this video by eliminating me, that's just a feature of right-wing psychology around the world," Blumenthal said.

Sid Vicious must be so proud.
talk about a loaded statement rich with irony...and contradiction
it would be akin to a Catholic substituting the word guilt for the word self hatred or a Protestant like myself using the word shame instead.
however to Max's credit, I'd like to see the vid...wish they'd voted like they now speak
they were fools and only now that their identity rather than my own traditional American culture is under attack do they respond with any sense that their God given nice IQs should have provided them to begin with.
liberal do gooders drinking the PC koolaid and destroying our traditional values here at home and now transformed into Israeli war hawks in Israel...leaves me sorta pissed to be honest.
also further fuels my suspicion by the way they dress and speak and all the “yo” hand signs that many young Jewish American males wish they were indeed black...at least anatomically....something I've long suspected...lol
pretty funny
I guess better late than never.
Is Haaretz a two state site?
What is Blumenthal’s point in all this....I don't know the guy.
really interesting video though...eye opener
It’s a bunch of tough talking punks who are drunk.
Who is trying to stop this video (as Blumenthal claims)?
WHERE’S THE JEW HATING right wingers. Please raise your hand if you’re one. All the jew haters seem to be on the left
Typical of dumbass Lefties...Do something stupid, get caught at it...Blame the Republicans!
If anyone, it would have to be the Obamabots. I'd certainly never try to stop a video of anyone insulting the dear leader.
Some came to their senses by events some cataclysmic, most not, but we came to our senses, nevertheless, some recently, some not.
We are here now and see the dangers that this administration poses to our country and to our allies. For my part, I say welcome to the club, it's about time.
Hope that you're doing well, sir.
Silly boy.
Hitler hated Jews.
Hitler was a right-winger.
Therefore anyone who hates Jews is right wing.
</ sarc (for those who are sarcasm challenged)
BTW, only one of the above statements is entirely accurate.
It would be interesting to see some of these kids interviewed when they are sober.
I was a libertarian leftist nearly 30 years ago myself...log hair/pot daily but it was a little different then, we were bucking the power structure...still am...both me and the power structure have changed
Problem I alluded to though Sofaman by watching the video is that some of these young bucks make it perfectly clear they are mad at Obama because of how he may treat Israel in their view.(and I agree) It has nothing to do with what he is doing to destroy America which they supported in voting for him. It would be nice if they saw that like you and I do.
Destroy traditional culture and economy in America and they as Americans vote for the guy...even campaigned for him as one says but now he cozies up to Arabs and implicitly threatens the motherland and all of a sudden they see the light.
I tell folks here a lot and no one listens of course because we have all been brainwashed not to believe anymore what many folks knew for centuries but what folks are determines how they think as much as what they know...maybe more.
i agree though...every little bit helps...
Well, that was interesting. Young people and Jews overwhelmingly voted for The O.....perhaps they are having buyers remorse.
They always blame wing, its part of their ideology. Even if the ‘rightwing’ is other commies.
Exactly. Rev. Wright is one of the biggest Jew haters in the country along with Farrakhan and others. Not exactly “right wingers”. Chris Matthews has tried so hard to pin the shooting on “right wingers” that he just continues to make an ass out of himself. BO doesn’t love the Jews. I guess he’s a right winger in disguise.
Most American Jews (I have this in my own family) automatically lean left, for whatever reason. Yet when it comes to Israel, they lean hard right. Please don't ask me to explain that contradiction. I think I'd hurt myself going through the mental contortions that explanation would require.

Less than a week after they used an overwhelming amount of left-wing Internet clips from YouTube to forward the liberal agenda at the Democrat debate, CNN is promoting another left-wing Internet production. Sundays “Newsroom” program spent more than 5 minutes discussing the latest hack job from Max Blumenthal of “The Nation,” in which the son of Clinton spin doctor Sidney Blumenthal attacks the “chicken hawks” at the College Republican National Convention.
Not only did segment reporter Josh Levs fail to identify many of Blumenthals left-wing associations (other than the fact that posted his video on the Huffington Post, which is not identified as a liberal website), he tried to cover for Blumenthal by stating that the left-wing writer “really rejects that radical left-wing label” after the co-chair of the College Republicans called Blumenthal part of “a bunch of radical left-wing people.” “Newsroom” anchor Rick Sanchez closed the segment with a clip of an earlier interview where he posed Blumenthals question to three Republican college students earlier this month.
Levs, (pictured at right) a journalist who works for several mainstream media outlets, including CNN and NPR, did the report on Blumenthals “Generation Chickenhawk,” the latest in a series of videos in which “The Nation” writer goes to conservative conventions to ask “hard questions.” This is how Sanchez and Levs began the segment.

Blumenthal covered the 2007 CPAC convention. It featured impromptu interviews with Michelle Malkin, David Horowitz, and Ann Coulter. Additionally, in July 2007, Blumenthal covered the 2007 College Republican National Convention in Washington, DC. He created a video titled “Generation Chickenhawk” featuring interviews with convention attendees, focusing on why they, as Iraq War supporters, had not or refused to enlist in the armed services.
In addition, Max Blumenthal released the documentary “Rapture Ready” in 2007, which examined the link between American Christian fundamentalists and their support of the State of Israel.
In 2008 he investigated and reported on the religious background of Alaskan governor and Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin.
Curb Your Enthusiasm!
Stupid kids, stupid video.
