Haumea is big enough that it differentiated, like the Earth, so that its heaviest components settled to the core and the lightest, specifically ice, stayed at the surface. and
"The faster it spins, the more it wants to fling you outward," Brown said.
...seem incompatible to me. Wouldn't a faster spin push the heavier objects outward, rather than pull them in toward the center?

I don’t know. Have you ever done the egg experiment where you take a raw egg and spin it until the insides turn solid, like they were boiled. If you do, the yolk is in the center.
