“And I have a predisposition to believe that the Ethiopians do indeed possess the Ark, which IIRC went missing under Manasseh. They have been celebrating the Arks presence for a very long time, in the holiday known as Timkat.”
The Ethiopians in our parish have participated in the Tmkat festival and the surrounding ceremonies. They certainly don’t doubt that the Ark is in that monastery. In fact, East of the Adriatic, especially in the ME, its pretty well known, or better said believed, that the Ark is in Ethiopia. As many know, there were substantial numbers of Ethiopian, very black, Jews who were descended from the jews who brought the Ark down there. There are also, to this day, Canaanites there who still practice animal sacrifices with their own priests.
I do find the involvement of the Patriarch strange, however.

Isn’t the reappearance of the Ark supposed to be a harbinger of Armageddon?

From that picture it looks like this patriarch is about to compete in this week’s edition of “The Iron Chef” competition!

"It is my understanding that Muslims acknowledge that Muhamed rotted in the ground after his death."
The Jerusalem story had to do with his night's voyage to Paradise upon a winged horse with the tail of a peacock and the breasts of a woman.
The name of the horse? Barack. No kidding.
Think of that the next time People magazine breathlessly publishes a shirtless beach photo of The One with his pendulous man-teats flapping in the breeze.

You asked — How will its validity be tested?

Are we sure Mohhamed ascended from here? I beg to differ. This is like the Shroud of Turin.

Uh, isn’t the ark located in God’s temple in Heaven? Rev 11:19?

I don’t recall it being moved there the 7th trumpet. I’ve always been taught that it’s there now.
But, besides the point, it’s not important where it is now. Too many people wondering about the Ark, the Shroud, and not enough about the actual Savior of mankind. Too many distractions from the real purpose...Jesus.
But that’s just my humble opinion.

I am surprised that the WorldNetDaily story on this subject did not mention the book by Graham Hancock: The Sign and the Seal. It has been several years since the book was published and I checked out a copy of it and read it from cover to cover. It presents plausible evidence that the Ark of the Covenant is kept in a church in Ethiopia. The Wikipedia article on the Ark of the Covenant mentions the Ethiopia theory and refers to Graham Hancock's book. Before posting this I ran a search of FreeRepublic and found no mention of Graham Hancock.

That would be a valid sign. I really hope and doubt it actually happens. If the first person that touches it has nothing happen to them, will it be construed as him being a good person, or it not being the ark? Who would volunteer to be the 2nd person?
