Mandatory End of Life Counseling for Seniors

One of the most outrageous mandates in the Democratic health care bill is found on page 416. [Mod note: try pp 425-426] On this page, you will see mandatory “end of life” counseling for seniors every five years. With this counseling, they will be spoken to about the different end of life choices that can be undertaken.

This is crazy. How could some Democrat not get an amendment approved during committee to remove this page of the new health care legislation?

This is only one outrage contained in this bill. If Obama has his way, forcing this bill to be voted on next week without members and citizens to actually see what is in it, we will definitely be surprised the next time we try to go see a doctor.

Call Democrat Mike Ross and ask him to stop this bill in committee. Also tell him you’ll donate to his campaign and do so, after he stops this bill. The energy committee must pass the bill to get it to the floor. There are many conservative Dems on that committee. Only 7 are needed to kill it. They had 10 yesterday. They need your support. Two other committees already passed it today. We need to call today. Also, can someone else post the names of other blue dog Dems on that committee? Thanks.

You can see the entire 1018 page health care bill here.

Take a firearm and teach the counselors more about the subject.

I don’t see it explained as stated. If I’m wrong, please correct me with the correct passage.

BTW, End of Life, as we are talking about, begins on page 431.

” Yeah. It’s really simple. “We aren’t going to give you the treatment you need so to make the dying process a little more palatable, here’s some counseling.” “

Yes, that’s exactly what it’s going to be. Unless you’re a Kennedy or some other American Royalty.

Shades of all the worst-case Sci-fi movies I ever saw.

If this bill becomes law we will need to go to RED ALERT!!! Just keeping the sci-fi theme going. ;)

I can’t imagine the geezers in the senate going for this.

They will exempt themselves.

Kind of the way Fidel and Raul are exempt from the rules of their "top-notch" state-run medical system.

If this abortion of our constitutional rights (life, liberty and all that jazz) passes, I also envision the government finding a way to force any recalcitrant MDs into getting a high percentage of their old patients to sign on the dotted line to go into the wood chipper for the "greater good."

I can see the government penalizing MDs with a low percentage of elderly patients agreeing to be euthanized... for instance, if an MD has fewer than 50% (a random number, pulled out of my paranoid, right-wing imagination) of his elderly patients signed up for the wood chipper, then he (or she, the MD) will only get 15% (another randomly chosen number) of the standard reimbursement.

Heck, I could also see a special "bonus" going to the lucky MD who has 75% or more of his elderly patients agreeing to government euthanasia.

Can we recall a president?

“So where is the AARP?
My guess is they are sponsors.”

Wouldn’t be surprised. After reading the text, I’d bet that AARP sees this as helpful to Seniors who have questions about living wills, nursing homes etc.
But, once again, seems like the government and the proponents of this Administration seem to believe that most Americans are too stupid to think and make decisions for themselves...(hmmmm, maybe they’re basing this assumption on the results of the last election...maybe some truth to this...).

As mentioned by another poster....making this MANDATORY is chipping away another piece of our freedom.

Further, just how do they intend to enforce this?? Not to mention the cost to insurance companies....i suspect this would be a required benefit. We are living in Bizarro world but it’s not at all funny.

The seniors should arm themselves, organize into paramilitary entities and go down fighting should this horror ever even remotely comes to be. I am sick to death with these Godless subhumans.

Can't see many of them doing that, but their families really need to watch out for them and attend such sessions, if possible. What concerns me are the so-called privacy statements put out by the medical industry--they are okay now, but will they be in the way when the children want to help their parents?

In NYS, if you are hospitalized you are hounded by the social worker to sign the DNR orders (do not resuscitate). You could be hanging off the bed but they want to know immediately if you are not conscious what to do. What is being recounted in the article is indeed a living will of sorts, only now it will be universal.

They’ll be pretty ticked if the have to sit in a shrinks office for counseling about it
_____________
That is exactly what these Communists hope for. That the most people will be is ticked off. How about saying NO and refusing? I am tending to agree with some on here. Too many have gone soft and are willing to accept whatever they are told to do. I’m not one of them. I will leave this country and never come back before I will live as a slave to the government.

__________
As if they ever read all the way to 425. Reid admitted that if any of them ever read every page of every bill they would never get anything passed. How sick is that?

Right. And the new rules have no HIPPA waiver clause. Therefore by default it prohibits any family members to be present during the mandatory arm-twisting consultation.

Good point. Why don't they give the mothers such counseling before killing their babies?

So where is the AARP?

They have been calling members in New England asking them to call their Congressman and to urge them to vote AGAINST ObamaCare.

I think the Democratic congress better be look into end of life counseling because they apparently don’t realize how close they are getting to their own end of life.
