JAMES TARANTO: It's certifiable: the last word on Obama's place of birth
The Wall Street Journal ^ | July 30, 2009 | JAMES TARANTO

Posted on 07/30/2009 5:06:48 PM PDT by curiosity

Several readers have written over the past few days taking us to task for dismissing so-called birthers as lunatics without bothering to refute their claims. We reluctantly concede their point. The birthers have managed to sow confusion in the minds of some who are not lunatics, and for the latter group’s benefit it is worth clarifying matters.

You said — The time is coming when important people who cannot at this time join the birthers will say “Oh come on, these people are never going to shut up until they see the BC.

Ummm..., I see the conservatives/GOP leadership and other conservatives “running for the exits” on this issue, especially since the State of Hawaii made their announcement that Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen.

Heck! You can’t even get Ann Coulter to talk about it. Try Chairman Steele. Or maybe you should ask our former Vice President Cheney. Give it a go with President Bush. Or, ask John McCain. And you can give a holler to Liz Cheney, too.

Now, Sarah Palin is the one I want to see for President — now *she has a clue* — and you won’t find her talking about idiotic things like this. She’s *way too smart* for that... :-)

But, don’t worry, you’ll always have company... they’re still talking about men not landing on the moon, too... and it’s 40 years later... LOL...

Hey..., fight Obama in politics, which is fine because that’s where all the *action* is happening with Congress and legislation and policies, etc.... but with the birth certificate issue.. that’s for laughs now...

You know, someone told me that Hawaii destroyed all their original birth docs in 2001.

In the meantime, this issue is increasingly becoming an embarrassment to the Conservative movement.

Hmmm....I did not receive the Directive that El Sordo is now the one who determines what issues are and are not an "embarrassment to the conservative movement".

Note to self: Call Post Office in the morning.

” While you’re running through these details, the majority of the conservatives in the GOP are *running for the exit doors* — on this issue... LOL...

Today Andy McCarthy spanked Rich Lowry for his “mistake” filled NRO editorial
yesterday on the birth certificate.
Lowry may not be running for the exit, but, actually hiding in embarrassment.
You keep citing Dr Chiyome Fukino as the ultimate authority that BO is a natural born citizen.
Fukino is not a document expert nor a Constitutional expert.
She was hand carried through the first year of medical school ,
unlike regular medical students,
through the John Burns Medical School Imi Ho’ola program.
Affirmative action for native Hawaiians.
Her medical practice history has been focused on the wellness of native Hawaiians-
obesity, diet,high blood pressure,etc.
“ She has also worked to explore the role of ancient Hawaiian healing practices
in the modern medical arena.”
According to the ABIM-the American Board of Internal Medicine-
she is not board certified.
Clearly, she is not the sharpest scalpel in the drawer.
And yet you grant her the intelligence and Constitutional wisdom of Chief Justice Roberts or Scalia or Thomas.
LOL..

It is inarguable that no official has claimed his COLB matches his original BC.

Did you read the story???

The Honolulu Advertiser reported yesterday that Okubo and her boss, Chiyome Fukino, both confirm that Obama’s original birth certificate still exists. Fukino says she has seen it and that the information matches the now-official electronic records reflected on the certificate Obama has released.
It is inarguable that Obama has been on a downward slide in the polls and his power to persuade has eroded - at the VERY same time that Certifigate has hit the MSM.

http://www.mccookgazette.com/blogs/1303/entry/28821/

Considering who is in charge in the Senate and House, it wouldn't matter if Obama was born in Kenya. If Obama were to go on television tonight and admit that he was born in Kenya, it wouldn't matter. The Democrat Party would ignore and trample the Constitution, again, just like they do every day. Why would this be different?

AND, I must tell you, that it appears to me that Hopey Change WAS most likely born in Hawaii. (although, nothing would shock me) So then one has to wonder why Obama hides the actual birth certificate, and plays games with it's release.

Therein my friends, lies the Rope A Dope.

If we spend time going after false issues, or issues that do us no good, then Hopey Changes' real crimes against the United States may go uncovered. Exposing Obama for what he truly is, will be delayed, at an enormous cost to our country.

You must have missed the fact that this is a statement from the State of Hawaii on their official website, not the good doctor’s home website... LOL...

The State of Hawaii happens to be the place where the birth certificate has its origin. The State of Hawaii is the place who has kept the records all along, and the one who puts out certified copies when asked for.

The State of Hawaii also has their team of lawyers, too... and you can bet your bottom dollar that they were looking over those documents very carefully and then made very clearly and accurately the statement that would let the American public know *exactly* what the status of Obama was...

The State of Hawaii said that Obama was born in Hawaii and that he is a natural-born American citizen...

So, I figure that the State of Hawaii has lawyers who know how to do their job...

This is a small excerpt from the article link I cited in post #66.

Let’s begin with the statement that Dr. Chiyome Fukino, the Director of the Hawaii Department of Health released on October 31, 2008. The television and print media used this statement as a reason to prevent and treat with contempt any investigation into whether Barack Obama was not born in Hawaii. But the language of the statement was so carefully hedged and guarded that it should have had the opposite effect.

“There have been numerous requests for Sen. Barack Hussein Obama’s official birth certificate. State law (Hawai‘i Revised Statutes §338-18) prohibits the release of a certified birth certificate to persons who do not have a tangible interest in the vital record. Therefore, I as Director of Health for the State of Hawai‘i, along with the Registrar of Vital Statistics who has statutory authority to oversee and maintain these type of vital records, have personally seen and verified that the Hawai‘i State Department of Health has Sen. Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with state policies and procedures.”

It is understandable that after such an apparently definitive statement most news outlets, whether conservative or liberal, would accept this as sufficient grounds to relegate the controversy to the status of a fringe phenomenon. Unless they happened to take the trouble to look into the “state policies and procedures” as laid down by the relevant statutes. If they had done so, they would have seen that Dr. Fukino’s press release was carefully hedged and “lawyered” and practically worthless. But the media in general should not be faulted. The statement seems to roll out with such bureaucratic certainty and final authority. I believed it to be significant until a Honolulu attorney mailed me the relevant statutes.

There is much more. I urge others to read the document in its entirety.

Are you locked in an oil drum shouting at yourself?

His sperm donor was a British citizen, thus under the constitution, he is not “natural born”

Well, you remember what I said about the Lou Dobbs report, yesterday... LOL...

The *very night* that Lou Dobbs reported that when it first came out... I discussed that very thing, about how to tell if a news report was valid or not.

The Lou Dobbs report is the one that came out about the paper being destroyed, about three days ago (or maybe four). At that time I reported what Dobbs said — and at the same time, I also said what would happen if that report was false, saying it on the same day that Dobbs made his report.

And we see that the State of Hawaii denied the Lou Dobbs report, but of course, I already said that would happen if it was false. You can see what I said about it a few days ago, when Lou Dobbs said that...

Here is where I refer to how the “news” works and how the State of Hawaii would come out with a denial of such a report if it turns out to be false...

A direct statement of fact like that would be immediately repudiated by a state, if the state never did such a thing. You would have FReepers all over the place documenting such false statements and the other news sources would be *hammering* Dobbs, because they’re already looking for something to hammer him on, since he’s been reporting on the birth certificate issue. Dobbs, himself, even makes note of the other “liberals” who are hammering on him. They would *love* to get Dobbs on a untrue statement, because of what he’s reporting on Obama’s birth certificate.

So, that’s the beauty of our system (both with news sources and with Free Republic) is that it would be repudiated in such short order that everyone’s head would be spinning around here... LOL...

As I said, I would love to hear such a repudiation of those facts given in the news report...

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2299721/posts?page=314#314

Thus, that’s one thing I made *very clear* on the evening of the Lou Dobbs report itself, that if there was a problem with it, it would be *denied* by the state. And sure enough, it came true just like I said..

And that’s the way it went... :-)
