Did Sarah Palin just 'Pwn' the media with divorce rumors?
American Thinker ^ | 8/2/09 | Rick Moran

This is highly speculative but you've probably heard by now that a couple of Alaska liberal bloggers "broke" the story about Sarah Palin's supposed impending divorce from her husband.

It sure sounded solid coming from Alaska Report News:

AlaskaReport has learned today that Todd Palin and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin are to divorce. Multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage (including a former Palin staffer) have confirmed the split.

A National Enquirer story exposing previous affairs on both sides led to a deterioration of their marriage and the stress from that led to Palin's resignation as governor of Alaska last week.

The Palins were noticeably not speaking to each other for most of last Sunday's resignation speech in Fairbanks. Sarah ditched Todd (MSNBC) right after the speech and left without him. Sarah removed her wedding ring a couple of weeks ago.

Sarah has recently purchased land in Montana and is considering moving the family there. Sarah Palin is originally from Idaho.

Very interesting. But not true, according to Stacy McCain who evidently talked directly to Palin or someone who was authorized to speak on her behalf:

"Divorce Todd? Have you seen Todd? I may be just a renegade hockey mom, but I'm not blind!" -- SARAH PALIN

Yes, that is her OFFICIAL reponse, which I got via phone at 5:35 this afternoon. Take that to the bank.

I might add that Alaska Report has a about as good a record as Gawker in breaking news - which is better than some MSM outlets but far from perfect. And Gryphen, who apparently started the whole divorce rumor, is even worse.

Nevertheless, once both those sites hit the internet with the story, the blog feeding frenzy on the left began, with a couple of MSM outlets joining in.

As someone who doesn't consider himself a journalist but who has been around newsrooms for many years, let me just say that if this had come across my desk, I would have smelled a set up. It's too pat, the pieces fit too nicely together (an "explanation" for why she resigned) not to raise alarms with real journalists. So I think there is at least the possibility, that either someone in the Palin camp with an ax to grind with the media - or, less likely, Palin herself - whispered a few words to a birdie they were sure would get the word to people who would publish it.

The definition of "pwn" is "1. An act of dominating an opponent, and 2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects." If this was a set up by the Palin camp, it worked magnificently. Now, most of the lefty blogosphere has egg on their face while much of the MSM has been exposed as inveterate Palin haters.

Several Alaska bloggers hounded the former Alaskan governor with bogus ethics complaints while she was in office - Alaska Report being one of them. Could a little payback be at play here?

Stranger things have happened.

Looks pretty obvious to me- it means that, judging from their lying feces spreading, they are lowlife scum — self-described. Startlingly honest for leftist swine.

Romney in ‘12?

Just say “HELL NO! NEVER!”

“Romneycare” in Massachusetts IS socialised medicine, and a lot of other things that too-slick-by-half knucklehead has done are so close to socialism/liberalism it is not possible to determine any difference.

Romney would represent another 4 years of socialism - only the march music would be slower.

If I were betting right now I’d say you are just another one of many of the reeking romneybots that come out from under a rock every time Sarah Palin’s name is mentioned.

That slimy, oily substance that follows in his wake is the slug trail of his real political character. It has long since been expose that the undermining of Sarah Palin leaking information from within the GOP to enemies was coming from Romney devotees.

If Bobby Jindal is even half as smart as his governing policies and decisions so far indicate, he would not come within a country mile of the Romney-stench.

Try Palin/Jindal for 2012 and you will have a smart, true conservative combo that rings true with voters.

The only way Mitt will ever see the inside of the WH on a recurrent basis would be as a (maybe)low-level Palin/Jindal Cabinet appointee - or by taking one of those nifty tours open to the general public.

Screw Mitt - ‘cause that’s what his minions tried to do to Palin and we all know it.

A.A.C.

Waitaminnit - I’ll tell you how I really feel.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t give a flying cr@p about open vowels. The message, delivered with honest passion, is the thing.

but I'd rather have a candidate that can win.

I certainly hope so. I would LOVE to see Sarah hunt down, take out and field dress the MSM without so much as chipping her nail polish.

The definition of "pwn" is "1. An act of dominating an opponent, and 2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects." If this was a set up by the Palin camp, it worked magnificently.

This spinner is describing the term pwned, typoed from owned, as a tool someone uses to get/take advantage of someone.

Pwned has nothing to do with something like that, it occurred naturally in Internet use when someone (like this idiot) did something so ignorant that others laughed at them because of their incompetence and lack of intelligence. And therefore were "owned."

This guy has been pwned by his own petard.

Now, most of the lefty blogosphere has egg on their face while much of the MSM has been exposed as inveterate Palin haters.
Along with you. And the egg on your face is Benedict, Arnold.

Several Alaska bloggers hounded the former Alaskan governor with bogus ethics complaints while she was in office - Alaska Report being one of them. Could a little payback be at play here?
What an absurd conclusion to come to.

This guy has no idea of Sarah Palin's character.

Am a Sara 'fan'; but do think she should 'mature' her speaking voice and delivery'. . .and drop the 'ya's as well.

First Palin fan who I have seen that does not know her first name.

The leftists, liberals, dems, and the GOP want her to change also.

They too don't want her to stick out as someone different from the extablished status quo.

I don't think she wants to change into a run of the mill politician.

She's a breath of fresh air just being herself.

People either have to accept her for who she is or support the same old big government paradigm.

I’m a big Palin fan and agree that she would benefit from modifying her use of amplitude to punch her emphasis and speech patterns.

The difference between the average male voice and the average female voice is only about 1/2 octave. When Sarah raises an emphasized pitch in a sentence, at times, it makes her come across as a valley girl. And, I think this is why some unfairly paint her as being stupid.

Sarah’s authentic voice, which renders both her joy and passion is her staple. Its part of her authenticity. She speaks with truth and clarity and grace and power. But, some may find that her amplitude in emphasized speech patterns, when raising the emotional stakes, is somewhat of a turn-off. And, men and women hear differently. Some, I feel certain, are stereotyping.

From time to time, I try to tune into Tammy Bruce’s Internet Radio show. Its on at the same time slot as Rush and, like Rush, it’s a three-hour long show. About an hour into Tammy’s show, I find that she bothers my ears. It sound like she is shrieking when she raises her voice when she emphasizes a point... and at times, she is shrill... It forces me to turn her off.

Yet, talking to a female friend, she volunteered that she thought Tammy Bruce wasn’t that way at all. We just hear it differently. And yet, Tammy has bass registers in her voice.

Margaret Thatcher effected what was probably the most significant change in any modern politician’s voice. Her election-publicity campaign adviser, Tim Bell, described Thatcher’s voice coming from the top of her chest. She had a schoolmarmish, very slightly bossy, slightly hectoring voice. Thatcher’s publicity adviser Gordon Reece put it even more bluntly. Her high notes, he said, were ‘dangerous to passing sparrows’.

What her advisers were attempting to expunge from Thatcher’s presentational style were those characteristics that have always been associated in the public mind with women’s voices.

When Bell spoke of Thatcher’s voice coming from the top of her chest he was identifying a basic difference between the way men and women tend to speak. Whereas men often breathe from their abdomen, women are more likely to constrict their voices to an upper range which allows less variety and less control.

In a recent collection of essays, “Well-Tuned Women”, Kristin Linklater writes: ‘When a high voice connects with a strong impulse base, for instance, in anger or excitement, it becomes shrill, strident, screechy, piercing, nasal, penetrating, sharp, squeaky or brassy and generally unpleasant to the point of causing major distress in the hearers.’

When Sarah amplitudes her emphasis, to me, she can sound shrill. She could benefit from Thatchers advisers. Regardless, Sarah has my vote. Its women and independents that have to be groomed to hear differently. Depending on the market research and political polling company, Palin’s unpopularity with women ranges from 8% to 17% higher than men.

Just sayin...

First Palin fan who I have seen that does not know her first name.

You probably meant to say 'does not know how to spell her first name'; but mistakenly dropped the 'spell' word; as I dropped the 'h' for 'Sarah'. . .which I don't normally; but sometimes hurry/slip and forget the 'h' and spell it like my daughters name; which I do write often.

As for:

People either have to accept her for who she is or support the same old big government paradigm.

You are free to state the above; of course; albeit your limited 'either/or' alternative just fails 'reason and fair thinking'; and, IMHO; the truth of the matter.
