His parents hoped their teenage son would be home in a month, cured of his addiction to the internet. They never thought that within 10 hours of taking him to an addiction clinic they would receive a telephone call notifying them that he was dead.
Deng Senshan, 16, was addicted to playing on the internet, like tens of millions of other young Chinese. He was just the latest teenager to be sent by his parents to one of the clinics being set up across China to cure youngsters of their obsession with online gaming

Instead, the boy was placed in solitary confinement shortly after his arrival and then beaten by his trainers who scolded him for running too slowly when he was ordered to go jogging.Slacker.

I guess I misheard yesterday when I tuned in late to his interview with Michael Medved. It sounded like he’d been on staff in the 1960s with personal stories about LBJ. He has been a journalist since 1964.

Sounds like a mental health clinic in the US. Except they use fists instead of ECT.

I would have to say that they cured him pretty good, his time on the net is now zero. In this country the lawsuits would be flying, public outrage might shut the clinics down, and the people running the program would pay dearly. In China who knows, officials can be quietly executed or given a slap on the wrist. True justice is often scarce everywhere in the world but in China it seems pretty iffy.

Sadly, he didn’t realize that the clinic was a PvP area and he flagged up as soon as he walked in. The staff saw him, said, “lol, another low-level noob to pwn,” and, well...

Before the internet I would do historical research in court houses and university libraries. Countless hours and hundreds of dollars on transportation.
I can NEVER run out of historical research opportunities online....not addicted, just WELL FOCUSED!

The Chinese record on treating Internet addiction is 3,000 Dead 6,500 wounded, and 75,000 missing presumed cured. We have AA they have MIA. Just a cultural difference.

"The centre can take necessary approaches including punishment to educate the teenager, as long as the approaches will not abuse the child or impair his health." This is just my layman's opinion, but I suspect that beating him to death might fall a little outside the scope of this guideline.

“I’d presume he’s on various drugs too”
Come to think of it, our keepers of the Presidential Gate probably didn’t require a drug test. They sure as hell didn’t require a Natural-Born Citizen test.
