US Rep. Tsongas (Massachusetts) meeting on Obama health care proposal in Chelmsford, Mass Aug. 8, 2009. Rep. Tsongas stated the abortion would not be covered under the proposed plan because of the Hyde Amendment prohibiting the use of public funds for the procedure. She also stated that illegal aliens would not be covered. Many reports on the proposed plan say otherwise.
800 people showed up for the meeting but only 400 were allowed in the hall.
Apparently they couldn’t get the thugs to help in MA, oh yeah it is saturday the union don’t do weekends :-)They did have some plants but they didn’t help much.
There is what the local paper said about people.
Police estimated about 1,000 people arrived for the two-hour session at the Town Hall gymnasium, but public-safety officials closed the room after it reached its capacity of 220.

I was at this event, but could not get in. It was 80% against the bill and 20% for it and the liberals were clearly on the defensive. I engaged in discussion outside the hall and was pleasantly surprised to see that the majority opposed socialized medicine. This is the liberal bastion of MA we are talking about so this is a very hopeful indicator for the rest of the nation. Tsongas will not change her vote because of the opposition but this is a huge indicator to the rest of the nation. Over half the attendees were seniors and they are beginning to understand that this impacts them directly and the vast majority are opposed to it. The momentum is clearly against socialized medicine and 3 more weeks of this across the nation and any Blue Dog that wants to get re-elected will have to vote against this. This has reawakened people like nothing else and that bodes well for the conservative movement.
There is a line in the Health takeover bill that says not for illegals, BUT if you look for any verification of citizenship or legal residency, there is NO verification system. Illegals will just show up, get treated and the bills get paid by our taxes and taxes paid by American employers.
Democrats have fought the Real ID bill as to driver’s licenses, voting, hiring checks and will fight it on checking health care recipients, too. Our borders will remain open and free health care will be another incentive to come here illegally.

I read in one section of the ‘Health Control’ bill posted here on FR that everyone has to have a National Health Card. Won’t we have to prove citizenship, wouldn’t you think, do be treated? That is one way to keep out foreign nationals.
(Right now I’m devising a way to avoid getting one of those cards. I hate socialism!!)
I watched the entire session. One thing was clear: Tsongas’ mind is set and she was not listening. None of them seem to be listening. It doesn’t help that the lib party leadership has planted the idea that the opposition is organized and do not represent the people.
Kudos to MANY who spoke against the medical care rationing bill!! I was very pleasantly surprised so many stood and spoke against it, especially in MA. MANY great Americans at that meeting today, and especially Thank you!! To all the Veterans who voiced their concerns.
The room, amazingly enough, was overflowing, and most of them were what one person called “tea partiers”. Not true, but they were there against the bill. Good Job MA!!!

If you say something without knowing if it is true or not, that is a lie. You can't just say what you think is in the bill you have to know what is in it. These a**hats don't care what is in it, they just want to consolidate their power. This is headed for a blowup if they keep this crap up. Did people at this meeting call her on these lies?
You need to read most of the bill, many parts have been posted on FR. Illegals WILL be covered and no doubt they will be issued a card. The wording reads all US residents, legally here or not. Something similar to that anyway. For a congress critter to get up and flatly state these lies is simply outrageous.

I read that too. But if the government gets to make a lot of decisions afterwards interpreting the legislation, they can decide who does and doesn’t get thos cards, don’t they?
Maybe that is why they are taking names.

I couldn’t get the story in the link to come up (my connection is running slow this morning). Anyway, I thought Paul Tsongas died of cancer in 1994. Now wonder Democrats like the graveyard vote, if they let dead people hold office as well!

Well KNOW illegal aliens will be covered. The will not have coverage under the bill but will be allowed full emergency room coverage [as they do now].
Illegal aliens now bog down emergency rooms in California. They use it as their primary care. The go to the emergency room for sniffles and simple aliments. It has driven CA to the point of bankruptcy.

I have read a lot of posts here, and I think you have summed this up better than anyone. The Rats thought they could get this draconian health-control bill passed without anyone paying any attention. Instead they have stirred up a hornets' nest. I think this is an eye-opener for a lot of people who normally don't take any interest in politics.
