Just heard on noon news that Kennedy will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. What an insult to our troops!
He was in the Navy or Coast Guard. Why shouldn’t he be buried there?

It does not disgrace nor take away from the honor to those who truly deserve and earned it, we all know the truth of these matters.
He is an Army Vet and the comments on this thread are very juvenile.

Admittance to Arlington National Cemetary is based on status and cause of death for those KIA, and on awards received in service.
I think a Bronze Star medal is the minimum required for those not KIA.
Kennedy doesn’t qualify under that rubric. He did not serve long enough. He is being buried there under his senate rights.
Well, as our American Heroes were bigger than life and strong in mind and spirit, maybe they will kick Kennedy’s ass once he’s settled in.
Honestly I have no problem with this, His brothers earned him that spot.

He was in the Army for two years after being kicked out of Harvard for cheating. He enlisted for four years (too drunk to count?), but his father pulled strings to cut his enlistment down to two years. The Korean War was going on at the time, but his father got him a Post in Paris. He never rose above the rank of Private.

Not quite. They would only be eligible IF they had also served in the military ( as opposed to having retired from the service or having been awarded a service medal such as the Purple Heart or Silver Star.
