...FAIR has a point that illegal immigrants would likely be able to buy insurance on the national health insurance exchange. We don't see anything in the bills that would hinder that. A Congressional Research Service report issued Aug. 25, 2009, confirmed our observation. The House bill "does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens participating in the Exchange—whether the noncitizens are legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently," the report said.

But it's worth pointing out that illegal immigrants participating in the exchange would be paying for their insurance like everyone else. That's similar to the current system -- we're not aware of any particular restrictions that stop illegal immigrants from buying private insurance now. Under health care reform, illegal immigrants would be able to buy private insurance or the public option...

...The best argument that we find that health reform would help illegal immigrants is that some might be able to purchase the public option -- if it passes, and it might not -- on the new health insurance exchange. They would purchase that at full cost. Obama's said "the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally," which Wilson said was a "lie." Actually, Obama can make a pretty thorough case that reform doesn't apply to those here illegally. We don't find the public option argument enough to make the case that Obama "lied." We rate Wilson's statement False.

One of my Obama-adoring acquaintences pointed this out on Facebook this morning. I instantly surmised what a load of crap it was. Even in their own article, Politifact acknowledges that illegals could buy insurance under the public option. If the premiums on that insurance covered the whole cost of the insurance, why are we talking about a $900 billion dollar cost? Why are we talking about tax increases and surcharges on this income and that income? Because taxpayer money is going into this program, and it will be transferred to illegals who buy into the public option.

Furthermore, if illegals can buy insurance, how can you claim the reforms don't apply to illegals? If my reasoning is wrong, someone tell me, but I don't see how. Politifact, just like the President, is a steaming pile.

Obama says he is going to save enough from one huge, inefficient, wasteful government program, Medicare, to pay for an even larger (eventually) also sure to be enefficient wasteful government program, Obamacare.

He says he wants to inject competition...by providing an entity that does not have to ever worry about making a profit. That's competition?

Read the bill the Democrats put forward. it is a HUGE government bureaucracy.

...and, it will lead to government officials deciding the standards (by his own admission of the Advisory Committee he mentioned) for who gets coverage and when the get it...basically, for older Americans and others with significant health conditions, it will amount to death panels. So who's the real liar?

In the end, the only one who addressed the entire Joint Session and spoke the truth was South Carolina Congressmen Joe Wilson. And he did it with just two words...YOU LIE!

Also, even based on this article, an illegal would be ‘paying’ for the public option insurance, two things are inherently true. The public option will be subsidized by tax dollars, and two low income people we not end up paying for jack crap. We know for a fact, theirs will be ‘paid for’ through tax credits and such. The IRS is all tangled up in this thing. That is where we have to ‘prove’ we have insurance and will be ‘fined’ if we do not. The low income will magically get a new credit that the rest of us are not eligible for. If not on day 1, it will be soon behind.

What the president didn't mention is that illegals are exempted from all the penalties Americans will pay for not carrying insurance.

Another unknown is whether the employers of illegals will pay penalties for not providing health insurance for their illegal alien employees. My guess in no.

Except this train wreck will primarily be funded through deficit spending and tax dollars which illegals don't pay and odds are good that droves of sick illegals will show up with a few dollars in their hand so they can get premier health care that they cannot be refused...for ANY reason, preexisting, citizenship, etc.

Here is the kicker for this whole effort. What is basic coverage going to cost. If you are required to enter the “exchange” to get coverage and make over $89,000 a year, you don’t get any subsidies. If basic coverage looks anything like the premiums my employer pays then you are looking at something well over $10k a year in premiums for very minimal coverage. That’s a lot of money to force somebody to spend.

Obama made the point that emergency rooms are overworked and the rest of us have to pay for that.

Who does he think is causing the overwork of emergency rooms being using for standard medical treatment?

He also implied that the 85% who do have some kind of insurance should be nice and provide for the 15% who don’t.

Many of those who don’t have health insurance are illegals.

Obama talks out of one side of his mouth to make one point, then ends up contradicting that and talking out of the other side of his mouth to make another point.

the cash flow aspects of the healthcare legislation must be studied carefully and explained to citizens.

One of our Democratic congressmen said he will not vote for a healthcare bill unless it is revenue neutral. We must knock down claims of revenue neutrality unless they are demonstrably true.

Unless they have a single US-born infant, and then the affordability credits apply to the entire household.
