Former U.S. Congressman Rick Lazio said today that will run for governor of New York.
Lazio, a Republican, will make a formal announcement on Sept. 21 in Albany. He will then spend the week traveling around the state, meeting with voters.
Lazio, 51, served part of Long Island in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1993-2001. In 2000, he unsuccessfully challenged Democrat Hillary Clinton in the race to fill one of the states two U.S. Senate seats.
Lazio is currently a managing director at J.P. Morgan Chase (NYSE: JPM), focusing on client relations and public policy issues. He lives downstate.
Lazio and Gov. David Paterson, a Democrat, are the only people at this point who have announced their intention to run for governor. The election will be held in November 2010.
You got dumped from his Christmas Card list last year, didn’t ya ? ;-)
Guy ran the laziest campaign I ever saw until Fred Thompson ran for Pres. Hillary would be up at 6AM greeting commuters. By contrast, Lazio would try and interrupt their lunch hours.
I wish I could run his campaign. They did it all wrong last time.
Not that I’m a big fan but why is trying for a political comeback “pathetic”?
I wouldn’t be surprised in the least if Hillary leaves SoS to run for gov of NY.
Well, Hillary! is from Illinois - close enough!
LOL
thanks, bfl
