'Obamamania' Cooling Off Fast Among Young
Associated Press ^ | Sept. 22, 2009 | Martha Irvine

CHICAGO -- Young Americans showed their collective power when they helped vote President Obama into office. Inspired by his message of "change," they knocked on doors, spread flyers, voted for him by a 2-1 margin, and partied like rock-the-vote stars when he won.

Since the election, though, that fervor has died down _ noticeably. And while young people remain the president's most loyal supporters in opinion polls, a lot of people are wondering why that age group isn't doing more to build upon their newfound reputation as political influencers.

"It's one thing to get excited about a presidential candidate. It's another thing to become a responsible citizen," says Jennifer Donahue, political director for the New Hampshire Institute Of Politics. She and other political analysts thinks they have yet to prove themselves.

I think more young people are realizing the size of our debt and the spending habits of our new debtor in chief and they don’t like it.

If they don’t wake up soon and demand fiscal responsibility they will pay the biggest price in the future after Grandma and Grandpa are long gone as is social security, medicaid/medicare, and the dollar.

I'm active duty Navy and have a whole swath of extremely liberal junior troops to deal with. They haven't changed their tune one bit! They still think the world is owed to them for some reason and have become 0bama apologists. You wouldn't believe the attitudes on some of these kids!

Way I see it...

Eight years of mindless MSM and pop culture Bush bashing made them ripe for manipulation.
All they wanted was “change”, or they were told that is what they so dearly wanted. They had no idea what it meant or cared beyond the flowery words and being kewl. Now they see things just getting worse and reality is setting in.

You don’t get something for nothing. Obama is not magical.
There are people around the world that still want to kill us. Good jobs are hard to come by, and the smarter ones know what the word “deficit” means.

Rather than allow him to speak FOR us, we need to be inspired BY him, and volunteer in our communities, speak our minds, write, read, think, act," says Marshalek, a social media director who works with small businesses.

I bet this ignorant fool actually believes that all those urban Cubans out there "volunteering" to help with the sugar cane harvest are real "volunteers" too. Collectivism trades on the credulity of schmucks, and they, at least, are the fascists' lawful prey.

....I’ve seen this movie before....in ‘72 so many kids worked for McGovern in the primaries that one wag in the the press called it “The Children’s Crusade”....of course, if a remark like that was said today few would know what he was talking about....such is the level of cultural literacy.

I had a discussion with an undergrad just yesterday who was bemoaning that, without Bush/Cheney in the WH, it’s “hard to hate anyone anymore.”

These dull witted losers really believed that defeating Bush42 was the single step needed to solve all the problems of mankind. Such is the power of the Leftist media.

All democrats are children (mentally). They covet the property of their neighbors. They envy their possessions and they command a parent government to fight their battles for them. They voted for free health care. Now they find out they will be forced to buy something they don't want to pay for because the young ones are too healthy to get a good return. Next they find out they will have to pay some $2000 in higher prices to pay for energy use punishment.

Suddenly they are some $5000 poorer for their votes for hopenchange and they cannot get jobs because employers won't be adding any new high cost positions.

They're ignorant punks. They should've never passed the 26th amendment. Most kids don't have the life experiences to judge politics. Aristotle warned us about that.

Now they realize that their magical mystery man/deity can't wave his hand and take away their problems.

So, are you kiddies beginning to figure out that he has no idea what the hell he is doing?

Most of them probably don't care. I daresay most of them are bored.

Like my adult Lib friends(all two of them), I find them to be very uninformed about either Zero’s policies or why they voted for him. They can’t seem to remember. It’s really scary that so many of our country’s youth got in line behind a dangerous candidate whom they knew little or nothing about, except that he was “cool”.

You mean they’re finally waking up to Senior Zero?

They are having their Colonel Nicholson moment, "My God, what have I done".

This is one segment of the Baraqqi coalition that CAN be cleaved off if Republicans are smart about it.

Speaking of kool-aid, how in the world did Jim Jones manage to kill so many people and have them will their money to the Soviet Union?

We had all better wake the heck up.
