"...never thought the US MSM would sink this low"
I can't say I'm surprised. The MSM has been the protectors and apologists for every mass-murdering communist tyrant and every corrupt Democrat politician for the past 80 years.
Their extinction will make the world a better place.

Here in Jackson county Michigan our official unemployment rate is at around 16%. I hate to think what the U6 numbers would look like.

So are they blaming employers? Of course! Those evil capitalists (most likely rich white guys who don't have the life experience of a wise latina woman) simply aren't doing their fair share of the recovery, leaving even more for the Obamassiah to grind through with the sheer force of his will...

>> But they’re doing it by cutting costs, squeezing more work out of fewer employees and relying on part-timers and cheap overseas labor
Companies are also controlling costs by “insourcing” — contracting for the services they need rather than hiring bodies.
In other words: there aren’t a lot of “jobs” out there, but there is plenty of “work” to do.
IF you have skills, and the motivation to work on your own without the safety net of an employer, you can find work.
BUT... you can’t fake skills, and you can’t fake motivation. And you have to work your butt off and deliver results.
Whaddayaknow... sort of like it used to be in the good ol’ early days.

Of course they are not hiring. They have had a reduction in force, removed the areas of fat in the operations and now are producing with a mean and lean machine.
In a few years when profits soar they will hire people they really don't need, put in nice but unnecessary programs and other pluses, profits then go out he window, and the cycle repeats itself.

We’ve had large increases in filings for Social Security and also disability payment/retirement. During the Depression those would of been counted as unemployed. So, yeah, I’d say effectively we are over 20 percent, but the gooberment gets to put numbers where it wants.

Employers will probably start THINKING about hiring when the health care debate breaths it’s final breath and dies.
Right. Small business owners are waiting...if they are forced to pay health insurance for their employees or incur a fine, they will have to decide whether to lay people off when the time comes, or pass the expense on to their customers. Either way the economy loses.
Having just watched the Fox special on ACORN and viewed the toxic arrogance of Wade Rathke, I am sure there are many of his twisted ilk in the White House who will cheer the suffering of small business as 'social justice'.

Oh, yeah, also factor in government paid/loaned/subsidised college edjamkation. A few more percentages of young productive people hiding out, or drifting through the college years.

The fringe media believes there's a recovery if they pretend there is one. Which is why they will never admit to an "official" unemployment rate of 10%. We'll see 9.99487532%, but it will never hit the "magic ten".

Real unemployment (U6) is near DEPRESSION rates at 17% (and thats almost certainly understated!). If I had to guess, I would say that real U6 is around 20% and some sectors and localities are well over 25-30% or more. Those are Great Depression numbers, no matter how you spin them.
:::::::
If these numbers are even partially correct, we know this kind of disaster does not happen by itself IN AMERICA! In our capitalist economy. It has to be engineered to happen.
