First Lady's Olympian Effort Falls Short (Side splitting, hilarious barfer)
Washington Post ^ | Ocotober 3, 2009 | Robin Givhan

Before first lady Michelle Obama set off for this Danish capital to lead the charge for Chicago's valiant -- but ultimately unsuccessful -- bid for the 2016 Olympics, she joked that the last-minute lobbying effort would be "a battle." "We're going to win," Obama said. "Take no prisoners."

At a G-20 dinner in Pittsburgh, she teased Brazil's first lady, Marisa Leticia da Silva, that when the time came for the last-ditch arguments for the Olympic and Paralympic Games coming to Chicago -- over competitors Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Madrid -- the "gloves are off."

Back in September, that all was just good-natured exaggeration -- high-level, lighthearted trash talk. But when Obama took the microphone Friday morning in front of more than 100 members of the International Olympic Committee, at a convention center here, she went straight for the emotional jugular. She did not try to sell the city of her birth based on the location of its sports venues, the logistics of transportation, amenities available for the athletes or even the long list of designer boutiques on the Magnificent Mile. She left all that -- including a discussion of Chicago's excellent shopping opportunities -- to the other members of the delegation who came with her to sell the city to the IOC.

She would have been 20 or 24 when she was sitting on her dad's lap cheering for Carl Lewis.

"He (father) taught me how to throw a ball and a mean right hook better than any boy in my neighborhood,"

Is that where she developed her beautiful strong arms the media obsesses over?

Classy lady. Glad we're flying her all over the world at taxpayer expense so she can spread word about our foreign policy far and wide.

“privilege of being with Mrs. Obama for a day and a half and she was incredibly effective,

So, if she hadn’t been so “effective” Chicago would have been in first place? Or fourteenth?”

It was the Affirmative Action type of “effective”.

Her supporters really know what a loser Michelle Obama is to spout so much crap about her.

Carl Lewis was in the 1984,88,92 and 96 Olympics. She would have been 20 or 24 when she was sitting on her dad's lap cheering for Carl Lewis.

Reminds me of another BS story involving Sir Edmund Hillary...

Ther’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People,” and then there’s just, “How to Influence People,” something that can be done very effectively by walking into another person’s house and performing a bodily function on his living room’s floor. Looks like the Obamas, especially the lovely and charimng Michell, with the beautifully sculpted arms, practiced the latter.

Instead, with her voice at times cracking, Obama told the IOC her personal story: She is a daughter who shared a love for the Games with her father, who has died.

Of course she did, Ms. Givhan. When will you ink stained wretches realize that these two are the most conceited and egostistical couple ever to occupy the White House?

Oh, and did I mention how historic they are?

Wow, she must have crushed her father!

I think we can leave aside any hanky-panky; it must've been pretty painful with his MS, eh?   Pure cruelty, Me-Shell!

Your middle name reminds me of the old Al Capp “Little Abner” cartoons with a permanent jinks named Joe Blftz (my guess at spelling), whose name was unpronounceable because it was all consonoants.

It sure is heartening to read the comments to this article on the WaPo website. Five pages of comments, and I think I could count on one hand with fingers left over the posts that attempted to defend the Obamas. They screwed the pooch so bad that their supporters are speechless and defenseless.
