NOBODY REMEMBERS OBAMA AT COLUMBIA ( But heck, we're all just racist birthers...yea right! )

Looking for evidence of Obama's past, Fox News contacted 400 Columbia University students from the period when Obama claims to have been there, but none remembered him.

Wayne Allyn Root was, like Obama, a political science major at Columbia who also graduated in 1983. In 2008, Root says of Obama, "I don't know a single person at Columbia that knew him, and they all know me.

I don't have a classmate who ever knew Barack Obama at Columbia. Ever! Nobody recalls him. I'm not exaggerating, I'm not kidding." Root adds that he was also, like Obama, "Class of '83 political science, pre-law" and says, "You don't get more exact or closer than that. Never met him in my life, don't know anyone who ever met him.

At the class reunion, our 20th reunion five years ago, who was asked to be the speaker of the class? Me.

No one ever heard of Barack! And five years ago, nobody even knew who he was. The guy who writes the class notes, who's kind of the, as we say in New York, the macha who knows everybody, has yet to find a person, a human who ever met him. Is that not strange?

It's very strange." Obama's photograph does not appear in the school's yearbook and Obama consistently declines requests to talk about his years at Columbia, provide school records, or provide the name of any former classmates or friends while at Columbia.

NOTE: Root graduated as Valedictorian from his high school, Thornton-Donovan School, then graduated from Columbia University in 1983 as a Political Science major (in the same class as President Barack Obama WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN IN)

Is Barry Suerto pictured in any of your yearbooks? (not necessarily in the same class as you)

I suspected that he attended General Studies, but never have seen that written anywhere. Is this your theory, or did you see it stated elsewhere? Also, I had never heard that the College would issue degrees to GS students. Are you sure that this is correct? I am a Columbia College ‘78 graduate.

I agree that General Studies was a world unto itself, and that there was very little commingling of students from both schools. If he went to GS, it would be even more unusual that he would have transferred from Occidental. Generally, people in GS were working full time or had other things going on besides full-time academia. What was Obama doing?

“How many people would go to school with the POTUS and not say something when they see him on tv?”

Maybe he went to night school, because sure as hell nobody saw him during the day ;-)

I can't get my alma mater to just leave me the @#%@#@$$ alone.

"No, I DON'T WANT alumni insurance."

"No, I WON'T be contributing to thisorthat."

And thanks to Facebook, LinkedIn, etc etc ad infinitum, I can get emails from every third-rate yahoo who might have lived in the same dorm as me for about five minutes...

"Really? It's been 20 years since we talked? Suppose there's a reason for that?"

And I'm just an everyday schmoe. I'd think that people would be lining up to say "Yo, I drank a fo-ty with BO in college."

The boy-pres_ent's story just gets stranger and stranger.

"Poll 500 random members of my college class I doubt many if any at all would remember me either. I don’t even guarantee I’m in the yearbook. Never picked one up to check. I lived off campus and was indifferent about the things that grab peer attention. Not everybody is a rah rah in everybodys face type.

True enough. If the school is large enough this may be possible. I attended a large Midwestern university, and it's entirely possible you could poll 500 people and not find a classmate who remembers me. Likewise the professors - I was a good student, but quiet, and one of very many. However, with minimal effort, you'd find roommates and friends who remember me. Dig further back into high school, and you'd find a lot more. I can understand someone dropping out of sight in a crowded university community, but when an entire young life seems to pass largely un-noticed, it's something else. Unlikely and in my opinion, suspicious.

You are desrcribing Columbia’s School of General Studies, not Columbia College. Columbia College is a traditional four year college founded in 1754 as King’s College. Columbia College is an Ivy League school and those attending it consider it to be the peer of — or superior to Harvard, Yale or Princeton.

Yes, you are correct. I apologize for the error.

If 0bama had gone to Columbia School of General Studies, could he have graduated with a B.A. in Political Science, without being known by the more traditional students in the School of Arts and Sciences? And if he did go to the School of General Studies, is the admissions standards such that 0bama would be ashamed of admiting the truth?

There was a pretty big contingent of black students at Columbia back then. Many of them felt alienated from the “normative” student body. While white, Asian and hispanic students hung out on the steps of Low Library, the black students would tend to hang out together leaning against a wall opposite the steps. As a rule, the students in that group pretty much kept to themselves.

In addition, a late transfer student would not have been widely known, since most of the required courses generally were taken in the first two years.

Having said that, I think it is extremely troublesome that nobody but a putative ex-roommate admits to remembering Obama while he was at Columbia. To me, this points to his spending his time in New York doing something other than attending college. If he went to General Studies rather than Columbia College, it is even more likely that he rarely set foot on the campus, but was busy with other things.

One other point of interest: Local 1199, was quite active around Columbia at that time and was a radical force. When they went on strike at Columbia many of the radical students supported them. There also was a radical group called the Columbia Tenants Union run by a wild man named Bruce Bailey, who ultimately was found cut to pieces in a couple of garbage bags. There also were a few radical student groups like the Sparticists (very small) and the Revolutionary Student Brigade, which would demonstrate every so often. I wonder whether our President was hanging out with the fringe groups that were less than engaged in campus activities.

I actually think we should leave the birth certificate stuff alone and focus on the fact that he has given no college records or transcripts. Compare this to any other candidate for President. Heck, Obama didn’t even provide his health records, just a one page document from his doctor saying he is healthy. McCain turned over reams of data.

What professors in the political science department in 1982 would have backed a fraudulent student, in your opinion?

I'd have to go back and check on the roster, but any number of them had the potential to be a part of such a scheme, if they thought it would move their agenda forward.

I had Jean Yatrakis for poli sci, and she seemed fairly middle of the road (for a department full of lefties), but still filled us with a bunch of liberal talking points. I'm going to go back and see what jogs my memory.

The admission standards at GS were fine. Nobody would be ashamed of having attended there. Often students who want Ivy League cachet would enroll there, as well as students who wanted to transfer in from other schools but didn’t want to take the required courses in Columbia College’s “core curriculum”. In addition, older students (meaning people who were in their mid-20s instead of fresh out of high school) would attend, as would students who wanted to take classes part time or without necessarily wanting to get a bachelor’s degree. There also were some joint degree programs, like the program between the Jewish Theological Seminary, which is the seminary of Conservative Judaism, and the School of General Studies.

Stephen, it is most unfair of you to say that our POTUS has left no traces of his time on our planet. I must correct you.

There are the:
(1) multiple Social Security numbers he and Stanley Ann used.
(2) There are the traffic tickets in Cambridge
(3)There are the airline tickets from the 2006 trip to Kenya to campaign for Odinga, with Dick Morris(!)
(4)There's that juvenile homo poem he wrote about his relationship with Frank Marshal Davis
(5) There's a whole raft of info in Ayer's book, "Dreams of My Father"
(6)The stuff he said on Letterman
(7) The Scholarly article in the "Sundial."

What the heck more could you possibly want? Rather than criticize our Anointed Saviour, you should praise him. Rather than spend many millions of dollars on a Presidential Library, like Bill Clinton and the Bushes, Obama's Presidential Library will be on a dedicated shelf in the back room at Hub's Beeline Wheel Alignment and Garage, in Burlington, NC. (Hub has already cleaned out the space. In exchange for $500,000 in Federal Stimulus Money, he moved the Marvel Mystery Oil and a box of Pine Tree Fresheners.)

I agree with you....but (and you knew that 'but' was coming)

Let's just say that you did something famous...or infamous (like get elected president). When that happens, people self-poll. "Hey! I know that guy! "ThinkfreeorDie" used to hang out at the college bowl-a-rama on alternate Saturday nights when I was a freshman and......"

So, while I agree with you that 500 randomly polled people might not know BO, I find it strange that nobody is admitting to it on their own. Especially in this age of a 24/7 hey-look-at-me newscycle, when no story is too trivial to get 15 minutes of fame.
