Net neutrality is like requiring grocery stores to charge all customers by the grocery cart rather than by the items in the cart. So customers with a cart full of steaks and and those buying a quart of milk and a loaf of bread pay exactly the same price. Isn’t socialism great?

The way the Commies work is they promise one group to give them something from other, and then collect it afterwards.

Perfect example was the Soviet Union, they promised the peasants that they would get their own land from the rich landowners. Then a few years later, when the former rich landowners were done away with, they took the land from the peasants for collectivization.

I really like Beck's show, especially when he does humor (he's in the little screen making faces while playing a video, reminds me of old Rush TV show) but I have to question some of this doomsday stuff. Unlike Health care bills, I have not seen any specifics that are threatening like some of these posts rhetoric.

Glenn Beck is easy to question when issues are examined individually. Beck will readily admit he is not an expert on most thing which he discusses. His gift is in the ability to see the Macro picture while most people are focussed on the Micro aspects. He sees the forest while people are busy looking at the trees.

Before dismissing his take on things it would be wise to examine his record. Go back over the last 6 years and see what he was saying about the economy and the financial world. He was 100% accurate on what was going to happen and why. Had I heeded Beck's warnings at the time, I would be a much richer man today. He accurately predicted Obama's election well before Obama became the fron runner. In itself, not an astonishing achievement. But he also had the why correct while most people were missing it.

Beck is often accused of "crying wolf", but when carefully examined, his record shows the wolf was actually out there stalking.

RE :”Go back over the last 6 years and see what he was saying about the economy and the financial world. He was 100% accurate on what was going to happen and why.

Actually I run the Peter Schiff ping list since last Fall and it was Schiff that told Beck all that would happen. Schiff was on Beck's show. Schiff missed a few things, but was better than most others. (Do you have links to Beck making these economy predictions? I have some libs that hate Beck I would love to annoy)

Beck is a great entertainer, I love his show. But he is not careful with his facts. My favorite two on FNC are Cavuto and Megn Kelly just because they take a more careful approach, less entertainers . Although Cavuto showed the congress 'locked door' of closed room Health reform meetings all week in a very entertaining way like Beck does. I always enjoy that.

From my searches yesterday it looks like Beck was not as critical to GWB as he makes out now. Do you have any examples of Beck critical of GWB in 2005-2007 ? like Schiff was? That would establish his credibility and help me defend him.

“Just the opposite of your statement.

It was a question, not a statement.

Thanks, I know there was a fake gun group that was supporting him and the name sounded something like this one’s.

Net neutrality is like requiring interstates to charge all citizens by a set rate or tax, so citizens who drive a lot and those who don’t drive a lot pay exactly the same price. Isn’t Capitalism great?

Ah, so this was based on an old press briefing by the GOA? I just saw this too late and they're closed.

Thanks for the info!

Sorry, I don't have any specific references on Beck. I've just been listening to him over the years while I work. As you point out he is a great entetainer.

One thing people need to realize with Beck is that he is not a journalist. He does not do the actual ground work like a hard news report would. He is not a critical thinker like Rush, for instance. He's a common sense guy who questions. Remember he always says, "Tell me if I'm wrong." He invites response. He welcomes guests like Schiff who can provide the details from an authoritative standpoint. He also welcomes guests who do not share his point of view. They just need to be willing to actually answer the questions that he asks. He does ask good ones.

What Beck adds is an uncanny ability to synthesize it all into the big picture. I recognize it because I tend to share the trait and realize how few people can actually see the forrest.

You’re very welcome, LT. As a long-time member of the GOA, I too, was shocked when I saw the story. I think a call to Larry Pratt is in order Monday a.m..

I dont want to discourage anyone from watching Beck's show, This weeks shows on the War on FNC he was killing me with that puppy 'watch dog'. I know he has the red fact line phone to the white house LOL. I have posted his clips before and will again.

One example I noted personally a few weeks ago when when he was on Sen Grahm ( and there is plenty of ammunition to use against Grahm which he did) But Beck said clearly “You voted FOR the stimulus Sen Grahm” , Anyone watching politics knows which republicans voted for the stimulus and it wasnt Grahm. He may have meant TARP1 but he said stimulus. That was a bad mistake.

Beck is really good, but he is a political opinion entertainer, he is not a Megn Kelly, Cavuto is in between the two, a bit more serious than Beck, but still throws in a little humor.

I didn’t really think you were. I just found the comment strange, since Beck has been so careful to get all his facts verified. I don’t think it’s fair to say that he’s not careful with his facts over something that was most likely a simple slip of the tongue. If you send him a note about it, he may correct it and use the time to take another nice shot at Pansy, which is always nice.

I can also vouch for the fact that Glenn was so apocalyptic in 2006 that I actually stopped listening to him. If he wasn’t worried about someone getting a suitcase nuke over the open border, he was worried about the whole economy crashing...doom/gloom. I knew the world was going to hell in handbasket too, but at the time, I didn’t think it was productive to listen to dire prognostications about just how awful it would be for 3 hours a day.

Trust Beck. He's way, way ahead of most mortals in the breadth, scope and analysis of the socialist/communist agenda. If he didn't use some zaniness as a schtick, no one would watch him. He's dumb like a fox.

Where would we be now if we did not have Beck? Rush does his job and Glenn does his..
God protect them.

The goa is the other fake gun group. The goa doesn’t do anything on their own. They make very poor t-shirts. Their rating system is based on using the NRA list and downgrading the politicians by one letter.

Oh, and they also complain about the NRA like using lies about the false statement that the NRA endorsed Reid. That’s an out and out lie which for some reason is fully supported by Free Republic.

The goa is the other fake gun group. The goa doesn’t do anything on their own... Their rating system is based on using the NRA list and downgrading the politicians by one letter

Your first sentence seems to counter the second sentence... if they don't do anything for the 2A, then why are they sending correspondence to their members and the media... so it seems you are finally coming around, albeit very, very slowly.

and their is no need to hide in a buried thread, if you have a principled stand then you have nothing to fear... well except for your propensity to attack fellow 2A defenders.

Anyways, Welcome Back!... geez, I thought I was going to able to retire this thread, but you once again force me to dust it off and re-post.

Once again, for all FReepers new and old.

Meet ‘ole 2.5, the GOA hating NRA member…

Here he is spewing his typical, and not very enlightened rant, without listening to a word someone else says… Typical 2.5 whining rant about the GOA.

and here he is in another thread using his typical whining rant with me… 2.5 gets the real facts and then gets caught in a couple of, well let’s say... factual distortions.

And yet again, after being confronted with facts defeating his position he continues to defend the indefensible.

So after getting his butt severely kicked to the curb many times, he continued to resort to distortions, twisting everyone’s words and in some cases; out right lying about his actions in an attempt to defend his pitifully weak bias.

Even so, I tried to reach out over a year after he told his usual fibs and help him see the error of his non-question, but he again went back to his old ways of unfairly attacking fellow 2A groups.

When he finally saw his stands falling apart, he then stooped to a new low and started personally attacking people that disagreed with his thoughts in the debate…2.5 attacks fellow FReepers that are engaged in the 2A discussion, and if that wasn’t bad enough, HE ATTACKED THE WRONG PERSON! and again a couple of days later on another thread he again personally attacked fellow FReepers… 2.5 again attacks fellow FReepers that are engaged in a 2A discussion.

Even after being berated about his unwarranted attacks on others in the 2A movement, 2.5 still cannot control himself and yet again attacks another FReeper engaged in the 2A debate.

Many people have answered his questions and countered his stands in-numerous times… he just refuses to see it.

So again 2.5... my point is, and has always been, that if you can’t have an honest debate fighting a common enemy, then do everyone else a favor… stay on the sidelines and argue with yourself, don’t try to distort the focus of this fight.

Every 2A group, no matter what you may think of them should be WELCOMED to the struggle we are facing, many former NRA members, myself included, who definitely have no love for the NRA leadership have been going back into the group because the stakes are so high, don’t let your petty bias cloud the big picture.

AOV sends with warmest regards
