Funny how Mrs Palin kept getting elected to various offices and remained so popular whilst making a mess of everything!

I'm sure that you real Alaskans will indeed be proud when she becomes the first President from your great state!

That was in reference to a 2008 hatchet job (see my reply before this one) and the fact that the ADN and Democrats were defending her is, I think, part of ASOC’s point. While I like Palin and support Palin for a variety of reasons, she’s not perfect and has said and done some things which can give real conservatives some pause, so I don’t question ASOC’s conservativism, even if I don’t agree with the conclusion.

ASOC doesn’t like liberals. I get that. I just thought the quote was humorous since he and I have talked about his state senator in the past. Thanks for weighing in.

Well, if I remember correctly, the reason Sarah Palin came up with this plan was because the major oil companies were dithering on the pipeline project. She went around them to try to get it going. I’d be interested to know if this study was done at the behest of any of those major companies that got shut out, and whose favorite politicians are no longer in office to make sure things go their way.

I'm not going to get into a pissin contest with ASOC; we all have different perspectives. Heck I have argued with JayBird myself and also agreed with him at times.

In Ak, you have a wide range of conservative ideals; with AIP benefiting when repubs get too outta line. I also remember when Sarah refused to mount a 3rd party run against Murkowski, so as not to divide conservative vote; high class. I know many repubs up here who hate Palin over many of her independent stands; but personally, I like it myself; and so do many other Alaskans. I trust her even though some friends might not; I've seen Sarah Palin do too many good things that no other political would consider. In the end, her actions prove up with the majority of the Alaskan People in my opinion.

Back to the pipeline: Reality is it's uneconomical at today's prices. Many Alaskans would have preferred a pipeline to Valdez with spurs to Anch, Fairbnks, and road system that would have benefitted Ak. I'm paying $5 bucks a gal for fuel and have been for a few years. A pipeline to Valdez would only help solve our energy problems,,, eventually. Sarah went the other direction, kinda surprised me actually; but honestly I figured she must have a more complete perspective; laugh but that's how much trust I have in Palin. So maybe someday down the road the pipeline will happen; I don't think it's a no go; when it does, Palin's judgement will prevail.

Something else. Way back in late 90's, I was invited over to Nick Begich's place in Eagle River. Nick is our Sen Mark's bro, but a real forward thinker like ole Wally Hickel. AIP wanted him to run for Gov. I heard him mention that he'd take 10 bill from Perm Fund and build Alaska's own pipeline to Valdez so nat gas benefitted Ak rather than big oil. I about fell outta my chair, but now I wonder if he was really onto something there? It would be great for Ak, but would it just be another big financial disaster like so many other state projects?

When the $$$$ make it feasible; she'll happen and not until then. Now back to football, Steelers won; now if I didn't have super fan & center ice; I'd really get upset.

She bet the farm on a temporary spike in the NG prices. Bad bet - and $500 Million down the tube.

Yep.

Thank you, eska. I wasn't wishing to lure you into a pissing contest but rather get another perspective on the matter from a different AK resident. Your post fulfilled my wish.

The Steelers looked good today and SUPRISE the Dallas Cowboys also won!

By the way, since you have met and spoke with Mrs Palin can I ask (and you may just pass on answering if you would rather) if you had to choose one word to describe her what would it be? Silly question but I'm curious.

Thanks for the kind words.

Every time I point up (what at least I consider) facts or at least what is seen on the ground from here, I get attacked as some kind of liberal/Romneybot/whatever.

So many peole, so many sheep..... and so old so quickly.

ANyway, have fun!

I had the opportunity to talk to Palin alot when she was in wasilla. I talked to her last spring when she visited our community, still same Sarah Palin from what I felt.

You know, Palin is no different than any of us, she has her failures & problems like anybody. I might not agree on every stand that she takes but I really see her as being completely honest and she's the only political I can bring myself to trust. I've seen her take stands, that I thought to myself; What the heck is she thinking? Everytime, her insight, judgement proves up in the long run. I've seen her go against the entire repub power structure up here, and win in the end. I think if she ever goes big time on National Level; she will change the repub party for the better, no joke. She will continue to upset the apple cart too.

"She always does what's best for the majority of the people" while limiting crazy spending; very cost efficient. She makes the right choices. I respect her judgement and respect that she will make the hard decisions; not put it off for the future. Sheep or not, that's how I see it.

Yep, I see that. I gave up a while ago. They're not interested in hearing anything other than slavish praise of their heroine. Dissent, no matter how mild, is not permitted.

Honest critique and even dissent are fine, intentional misrepresentations and lies are not.
