2012: Politically Correct Apocalypse

Statue of Christ the Redeemer Crumbles

The Kabaa Remains Intact

thelastcrusade.org

In Roland Emmerich’s latest film, you will see the destruction of St. Peter’s Cathedral, the Vatican, Notre Dame, and Westminster Abby.

You’ll also see the collapse of the White House, the Capitol, Big Ben, and the House of Representatives.

But 2012,the new film which purports the show the end of world, does not contain any scenes of Saudis being swallowed up by desert storms or Dubai being sucked into a sea of oil.

Yes, all the great structures of Western civiliation and Christianity will be swept away but the monuments of Islam will remain.

The filmmakers admit that they were afraid to depict the destruction of Mecca and the Kaaba for fear of Islamic retaliation.

Emmerich, who is well known for decimating famed landmarks in his The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day, said that that he had no qualms about destruction of the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro because he is "against organised religion."

But remained fearful of depicting anything that must offend the religious sensibilities of Muslims.

The 53-year-old Emmerich admitted that the original screenplay called for a sequence in which the Kaaba disintegrates to dust but realized that such a scene could result in the end of his professional career, if not his demise.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I seem to remember South Park having a chance to stick a big stick in the eye of islam over the whole cartoon controversy and they wimped out in the end.

"..The filmmakers admit that they were afraid to depict the destruction of Mecca and the Kaaba for fear of Islamic retaliation..."

Islam gets respect because they insist on it. There is a lesson there for Christians and Jews.

I’m saying if they claim Christian outrage and the big problem is the Mecca thing they have no credibility, yes. Anyone claiming honest Christian outrage should have been over the line on a number of issues long before the Mecca thing came to light. However, I see a lot of people looking for a reason to be mad about the Mecca thing, and defaulting back to Christian outrage as an excuse, not as an honest Christian reaction.

The Day After Tomorrow is the worst movie I ever wasted significant amounts of my life on.

Truely a film worthy of my garbage can.

And no, it wasn’t JUST the politics of the film (which were so pungent, I can still smell it years later), but how incredibly, blatantly unrealistic it was.

When it’s on one of the Encore channels, my husband purposely leaves it on to watch my vein pop from my head for his personal enjoyment.

Why people make movies like this is beyond me...actually I know, it’s all about money but what I can’t fathom is why anyone would want to the destruction of earth.

I only watch them to see Bruce Willis come back and
kick major ass, all while tossing out short humorous
red neck colloquialisms.

I believe the SP guys were threatened by the parent company of Comedy Central (Viacom is it?) that if they went through with showing the episode, their contract would be terminated. And Viacom, as far as I know, owns a crap load of other cable channels, so their chances of being picked up elsewhere would be slim.

I wouldn’t say they chickened out.

"This is NOT in fact a Christian nation"

The Library of Congress has an entire online exhibit refuting your claim.

You can spin it any way you want - take a look around - turn on a radio, or television, or wander into a movie theater or book store and tell me again how Christian this nation is....

The exhibit you link, a retrospective on the influence of religion in the history of this country, offers nothing to change the fact that this nation is not a theocracy. And that is a GOOD thing. Even as a Christian I do not want my religious leaders in charge of whole of society, that is not their calling, and neither do I want my political and business leaders in charge of my church.

Seriously, can you look around and honestly say this is a Christian nation, or even a nation of Believers? Easter Christmas self proclaimed I once went to a Sunday School class when I was twelve and I say I believe in Jesus ‘Christians’ who neither live as though they believe nor do they promote faith and virtue do not make this nation “Christian”.

I knew this the moment I saw it advertised. “F’’ this movie anyway. When the time comes, however the Good Lord decides to end this, the Muzzies won’t be getting a pass.
