If the work in the end will bear no fruit, Yes. I’d rather use my time for something where my efforts actually have a chance to impact my life for the better.

I’m sorry you live in a fantasy land.

Would you call this a trend?...

Gay marriage has now lost in every state _31 in all_ in which it has been put to a popular vote.

I don’t see how that percentage of the vote counted on an almost even split means the yes is a win yet.

That’s more like it. The opening post news wasn’t cutting the mustard.

Expect ACLU lawsuits today challenging the constitutionality of this vote. It's "what they do."

It’s rejected every time the citizens have a say in the matter. Wisconsin rejected it, too.

Of course, that doesn’t mean the fight is over; lawsuits are pending stating that what the MAJORITY OF CITIZENS want is ‘unfair and mean’ to the Nancy-boys.

Freaks.

Yes, but WI and ME people aren’t really against gay marriage, for nearly all of their elected officials support it. Getting a government freebie is more important to ME people because of the high cost of living.

Well, the 31 states that have had it put to referendum or state constitutional amendment have voted that marriage stay one man, one woman. The only states to have gay marriage did it without the consent of the people via raming it through in legislation.

ME people are both economic and social liberals for the most part. They really do believe that government can solve any problem with sufficient funding from the “richer” taxpayers. That’s what professors have primarily taught since the 1960s.

Maybe Senators Collins and Snowe will hold a media conference today and lecture the people of ME on their lack of “wisdom”.

I’m afraid you may be right on that.

The fact that its even a close vote is scary...

I think hypothetically, if the Gay Marriage ban referendum were to be put on a national ballot tommorow, we’d be lucky to get 55% for traditional marriage....The culture is crumbling.

At one time, ME was about the most Republican state in the Union. It rejected FDR all four times. But Edmund Sixtus Muskie, who the liberals said looked like Lincoln, changed all that.

“...The culture is crumbling.”

The irony is that Obama might help bring it back.

Yeah this worries me too. Here in Tennessee we recently passed the "marriage = man + woman" amendment to our constitution by a margin of 80% to 20%!

Queerly, (LOL) I don't recall a single national news story reporting this huge margin. I should expect no less I suppose. Here: http://www.thetaskforce.org/downloads/reports/reports/MarriageAndLGBVoters2006.pdf is a report by one of the "gay" task forces that you may want to have a gander at. Shows how they think they're "winning", and judging by the thin margin in Maine, they may very well be doing just that.
