You know the gold bugs have really gone mainstream, when conspiracy theories about tungsten-filled gold bars are discussed on CNBC. This morning, newsletter writer Howard Ruff was asked by Joe Kernan whether Fort Knox was filled with gold ingots actually filled with tungest -- a much cheaper substance of similar weight.
If you were confused about what the hell that was all about, we discussed this last month.
We're not sure what to make of it, but, just as many people want an audit of the Federal Reserve, the gold bugs demand an audit of Fort Nox.

First, we can only take this info as a ‘rumor’.
There were rumors in the past that all the gold was removed from Fort Knox (since it was no longer needed to underwrite the economy).
My best guess is, we will never really know the truth.

If they are filled with tungsten I don’t think it is in Americas best interest for it to be found out!
I do. Who allowed it. We need to know the truth. If it turns out it was Robert Rubin, Alan Greenspan and Larry Sommers (as is alleged) they should all be arrested and hung for treason. At the same time a division of marines could seieze Goldman-Sachs and JP Morgan, the captive banks that have collaborated with the Fed in the looting of America.
I hear what your saying but you wouldn’t want to condone that and it seems people are working hard to make sure it comes out I guess all we can do is grab some popcorn unless you have gold shares instead of physical gold in your possession then you would probably want to know. Little we could do about it.
If it’s true and the clinton crooks are involved they will find a way to fix it. Maybe they already have....hmmm who knows what kind of deals they may have made .
It would be dumb as heck to use Tungsten as Lead is far less expensive and easier to work with......
At least Tungsten would have “SOME” Value as Lead would be essentially worthless....

Yea, tungsten will soon be worthless, as we won’t need it for light bulbs anymore.

Alloy it with some osmium and it would have the same density as Gold, Plate it with gold and perfect duplicate.....
Some histories I’ve read indicate that in the 1700’s some counterfeiters plated a newly discovered grayish metal with gold and sucessfully passed it off as the real thing. That metal is now called ‘platinum’. ;~)
Gold has a density of 19.30 gm/cc Tungsten is 19.25 g/cc. Lead is only 11.34 g/cc.
