Yeah I suppose, but the vast majority of the Independents and some democrats also mean "deep wide and continual trouble for Democrats."
If they get Amnesty pushed through, all this means nothing.
“Broken glass” as in break glass in case of emergency? Honestly, I expect that Dems will keep picking up votes as most of the population is either brainwashed or hopelessly dependent on them. And that includes many who say they are conservatives.
The GOP needs to put up candidates that are worth voting for. I absolutely do not think that there are many “broken glass Republicans” for McCain, Huckabee, or some others I could name,
This is the break the GOP is looking for - how many RINOs can they slip through based only on the fact that they have an -R- after their names.
They've already demonstrated a willingness to do that:
The intensity level was evident everywhere...
1. VA was a bigger blowout for GOP than polls had suggested.
2. NJ was supposed to be close, based on polls. Some even had Jon Corrupt leading. GOP won comfortably.
3. Westchester county Executive was supposed to be a toss up; GOP won in a blow out 58-42.
4. Nassau County Executive was supposed to be a cake walk for the Dumocrat. When the recount is done, his political career is probably done too.
Dem supporters were complete no-shows.
Do you think with POTUS’ Afghaniplan that intensity from the left is going to increase? Or decline even further?
Once again, the press is asking the wrong question.
The fact that the public blames the Republicans doesn’t mean they will continue to give the Democrats a pass for not cleaning it up. The question should be “What percentage of Americans don’t blame the Democrats for not improving the economy.”
We’re in a similar situation to the 1970s. The public blamed Ford for the economic mess. For a while after he was elected, the public gave Carter a pass for not cleaning it up, but by the end of his 4 years their patience ran out. The public never blamed Carter for creating the economic problems, but they blamed him for not improving the economy.
The public will always blame the Repbulicans (because it started on Bush’s watch), but there will come a point where their patience will run out with Obama not improving the economy.
I do think that Obama is screwing up so badly that he cannot avoid the blame, but these things can be unpredictable.
"Broken glass" as in willing to crawl across broken glass to vote against the Democrats/for the Republicans. Another strong dose of someone Dole- or McCain-like could cure the second half of those.
"Broken glass" conservatives are those who would crawl over broken glass to vote. I think we do have an emergency though, and broken glass is also the answer to the question about the glass being half empty or half full.
and all signs are that Barry’s impending announcement on troops for Afghanistan is going to quickly deflate the left
Cook stated his opinion very clearly writing, DEMOCRATS WOULD HAVE TO SET UP MACHINE-GUN NESTS TO KEEP OBAMAS FOES FROM VOTING.
Hence Obama’s call for a “Civilian Defense Force” that is as well-equipped and funded as the military...
Maybe the Demoncrats will be too unmotivated to cheat.
I coined the term "Broken Glass Republican" as a measure of voter intensity in 2000. This was my first posting on Free Republic.

Didn’t know we ever left.
Broken Glass CONSERVATIVE republicans never left.
Michael Steele, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Mit Romney have tried to SHOVE OUT the conservatives.
They succeeded in 2008. HOWEVER conservatives are loud and REGISTERING TO VOTE!
