The British university at the heart of a scandal over climate-change research announced a wide-ranging probe into allegations that its scientists manipulated data about global warming.
The independent review is part of efforts by the University of East Anglia to damp the furor over thousands of hacked private emails involving its researchers, which suggested efforts to squelch the views of climate-change skeptics.
The scandal blew up just days before world leaders are set to meet in Copenhagen for a United Nations-sponsored summit aimed at boosting international efforts to curb greenhouse-gas emissions and slow global warming.
Climate-change skeptics have seized on the emails, saying they prove that the case for man-made global warming wasn't as definitive as generally claimed.
The scientist in the eye of the storm, Phil Jones, said Tuesday he was stepping aside as the director of the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit pending the outcome of the investigation. CRU maintains one of the world's most important data sets on how global temperatures have changed.
In an interview, UEA's vice chancellor said Dr. Jones would take a lower profile in the aftermath of the scandal. "He'll continue his scientific work, though how much of it will be at UEA remains to be seen," Edward Acton said. He added that the university isn't "hounding him out."
Prof. Acton, however, also said Dr. Jones "may have to take a rest." He didn't elaborate.

This happened earlier today. Another freeper linked it to his post, I hit it, and then it showed that the file is corrupted.
It was then I just went to google, typed in the key words, and found it.

The Science and Public Policy Institute, in compiling its global-temperature graphs for the authoritative Monthly CO2 Reports, had originally relied upon all four of the major datasets.
We were compelled to drop the NASA GISS/NOAA NCDC dataset when it became apparent that the data from more than half a century ago were being deliberately manipulated in an improper manner with the manifest intention of artificially inflating the true rate of observed warming in the 20th century.
We must now also cease to use the Hadley/CRU dataset, which – on the evidence made public by the courageous whistleblower at the University of East Anglia – is little better than science fiction.

In the medical community, inability/failure to replicate the results stated in studies, is often the kiss of death for that product, procedure, surgery or whatever.
They also had a gentlemen on...Roger Simon...who is a member of the Academy here in Hollywood...and He and another fellow are asking the Academy to take BACK Al Gore's Academy Award for that ...movie...an inconvenient Truth I think,,...Roger described it as something you would watch in the third grade regarding how to brush your teeth....ROFL....

Academy Conservatives: Take Back Gore's Oscar

The Climategate kerfuffle has given many global warming skeptics a sense of validation, and apparently that extends to Hollywood, too: Roger L. Simon, the P.T.-Barnum-esque CEO of the conservative Pajamas Media network and a member of the Academy, along with fellow conservative Academy member Lionel Chetwynd, are calling for Al Gore's Oscar to be revoked in light of Climategate.
The burden of proof lies with the AGW establishment.....
.....They have demonstrated, in their own words, data manipulation, false "trending", and the political agenda taking precedence over the real science very deceitful behavior rendering their entire "belief" to be a house of cards.
Why can't "journalists" take a "just the facts" approach? The answer is they are not real journalists. They are leftist propagandists.
If they were real journalists, they would make the deceivers prove THEIR case without trickery and in a full open manner. Anything less should be ignored. They are worthy of nothing but contempt and prosecution for the financial harm they have done and intend to do if left alone.
