Navy Patriot, that was truly the most well thought out post I have seen on here, and it is exactly correct. My opinion on Iran is far from the rest of the Right Wing’s... I feel like Obama will be forced to help Israel with Iran because in the face of his failures in all other spheres, the most imperative area for him is the military. If he destroys the economy (he has), ruins foreign policy, messes up health care, Copenhagen, etc THEN he has no choice but to be reluctantly forced into doing what has to be done with Iran. For him to either do nothing or just let Israel attack means the USA is no longer the most powerful nation in the world, and if Israel does it alone (they may not have enough planes, Obama would be trying to throw them to the wolves), it will kill the USA’s credibility EVEN MORE and Obummer will hit even lower numbers. Just my two cents

You are exactly correct with the exception of "not enough planes".
Israel has sufficient air power alone, and sufficient ballistic missile capability alone to take out all of Iran and Syria in one single strike.
Here is the problem: The Iran nuke facilities are several, all are well bunkered underground. Israel has first generation non nuclear bunker busters, but it is doubtful they will completely destroy the targets.
Last week, the US announced the start of manufacture of third generation non nuke bunker busters, (we are the only manufacturers, so far). The US has refused to supply Israel with any of the gen 2 or 3 BBs, and stupidly continues that policy.
Nuclear weapons strikes will do the job that gen 3 BBs would do.
The second part of this point: For an aircraft strike without unnecessarily sacrificing aircraft and crew, IDF needs to overfly Iraq. The US has refused to cooperate and has indirectly threatened to engage IDF aircraft overflying Iraq. Israel can protect it's aircrews and fully accomplish the mission by using a balistic missile attack with nuclear weapons. This would leave Israel much better prepared to defend against retaliatory attacks from where ever.
Keep in mind that a NON NUKE bunker buster attack only on nuke bunkers would probably not trigger Arab nation support outside Iran. Israel accomplished a surgical land assault on Syrian nuke facilities with only complaints from some Arab nations, nothing else.
Finally, the Arabs could only retaliate against Israel by force or propaganda. The cowards always lose using force, and win using propaganda, so what would change from Israel's action? However, the Arabs could retaliate against the US by simply turning off the oil. Russia would be fine with this and China would buy the oil.
