(CNN) -- Investigators recovered the remains of more than 500 animals after executing a search warrant Wednesday at a home in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, according to the city's chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The animals included "dozens of sheep, goats ... every type of farm animal you can think of," the Philadelphia SPCA's law enforcement director, George Bengal, said.

The SPCA believes two sets of remains are those of small primates, possibly monkeys.

“I’d be shocked to find out this happens in Hell.”

Maybe not *in* Hell, but certainly on the road there.

SPCA chapters have been given law enforcement powers in some cities—if you ever watch the Animal Planet show “Animal Cops” you’ll see this. They’ve filmed in Filthydelphia before, and yes, the SPCA there has investigators that have at least limited police powers.

In New York City, where “Animal Cops” started filming, there the SPCA investigators basically ARE cops. They have taken at least some law enforcement training and have full police power, wear uniforms and drive cars that look much like the NYPD’s, can make arrests and serve warrants. In other cities (Detroit and Houston, for example), they have limited abilities to investigate but rely on the police to serve warrants and provide the “muscle” if needed for searches and the like.

“But he believes these animals may not have been sacrificed humanely.”
I don’t care what he “believes.”

“I thought they were just an animal rights group.”
You might be confusing them with the “Humane Society of the U.S.”
If you’ve ever watched “Animal Cops” some of them have full police powers, are armed, wear rank on uniforms, etc.

Boy they sure are finding a lot of very weird things in Philly homes lately. On top of this, a couple weeks ago they found numerous human remains in a basement in what I believe was the Germantown section of the city.

I didn’t realize an AK-47 was part of the Santeria ritual.

It's supposed to be a .45 so you could stick it down sanchito's throat.

But I guess an AK would work.

If Sanchito knows what’s good for him, he’d best go run and hide.

“The home’s owner hasn’t been seen for eight months but is believed to be in Mexico,”

On another thread, people are worried about Mexican Muslims.

Our local sheriffs often find ‘Saint of death’, Santa Muerte religion artifacts when they locate dope farms run by the Mexican drug cartels, who are well armed.

But with amnesty, they’ll make great democrat voters.

Oooooh. A scarey gun!
Gotta get the hoplaphobes all wee-weed up, doncha' know.

More germane to the story would have been to find out how many pikes, swords, daggers, knives, and butcher blocks they found. Guess we'll have to keep an eye out for Law and Order or Cold Case for the details!

What we need to remember in cases like this how then the law and government react, in order to placate outrage citizens, or more likely garner their vote.

For example, I live out in the country where lots of folks have small farms. It is traditional for them to raise chickens, hogs, cattle, etc and slaughter them for food as needed.

There is also a back to wholesome food movement where people, instead of buying and consuming steriod and growth hormone laced “meat” at the Winn-Dixie or Super Walmart now grow their own, no additives, no growth hormones, no antibiotic meat for their own consumption and that of their friends. What slaughter laws are applied against them? Horrific ones! Without the volume or size of the big slaughterhouse, they wind up in violation of all kinds of ordnances that really wasn’t made for private, non-commercial concerns. The government has been waging a law enforcement war against them for years.

Anyway, blowback or unintended consequences, or even political correctness may very well lead to the heavy hand of the law coming down on my friends and neighbors due to this story. And the GreenPeace, PETA types are more than happy to use outrage over incidents like this story to stop any kind of meat eating at all.
