I am not so sure, this admin has a motto, "Don't waste a crisis......"
They must have found a way to blame this on the Bush administration. But no finger pointing!
I can’t help remember back when the DHS was touted as the solution to these bits of information not being tied together. We have the DHS now, yet the WH insists that not one single person or agency is to blame.
Aside from that, it is always a waste of time to fix the blame and ignore the problem. Bottom line, any one boarding an aircraft with the know how could blow it out of the sky. Explosives are made of plastic, we scan for metal. You could fill a laptop or briefcase with plastic explosive and walk right on a plane.
It’s not going to shock me. It may appall me, but it’s not going to shock me.
I’m more worried about targets other than airplanes....trains, buses, waterways. We always seem to narrow our focus on the most recent attack and method after the fact, ignoring others. The airport waiting lines would provide a much bigger target than a single jet. I have very little confidence right now...stay vigilant.
What Shock... the only way this report will shock me is if .. FUHRER OBAMA takes TOTAL BLAME for the mishap.
But, Dear Fuhrer, No matter What POLICY may be... when a new MANAGER takes over the Department, the Entire department with Quickly learn what the new manager WANTS... and GIVE it to him...

I suspect that the reasons the information and patterns of behavior were not acted upon in 911 and these cases, are similar. Officials do not want to risk being sued and punished and accused of racism, profiling, and bad judgment. There is little reward for action that satisfies the primary mission as long as what used to be minor organizational missions are now equal to or more important than the primary mission.
People will almost always be accused of doing something wrong if they blow the whistle, the event does not occur, but the lawyers, ACLU, CAIR will jump on them with both feet, IMO.
My guess is that the lawyers for the Ft. Hood terrorist and the Detroit flight are already working overtime to accuse guilt ridden Democrats of causing terrorists to act, and blaming previous administration policies. What a world!
Our policies are laced with lack of common sense thanks to "political correctness" being enforced by the ACLU, EEO, Diversity commissions, feminism, trial lawyers, organizational quotas, and so on, all armed with paperwork and high level government appointees ready to act.
Hillary or Janet take the hit.
What I DO blame Obama, and Bush, for is my 86-year old USN veteran retired physician father standing half naked in an airport, being shoved around by goons and humiliated by almost falling, in full view of the public, because he can't keep his cane and his defibrillator/pacemaker can't go through the metal screener.
Stealing an old and accomplished patriot's pride is a disgrace. THAT is an inexcusable failure, repeated, I'm sure, thousands of times a day.
And THAT I do not forgive.
