AZ-Sen. 2010: AZ Sen Poll: McCain Opens Primary Lead (over Hayworth) (thanks a lot, Sarah)
Real Clear Politics / Rasmussen ^ | 2010-01-22

Posted on 01/22/2010 8:02:15 AM PST by rabscuttle385

Sen. John McCain (R) has known from an early stage that he could face a tough primary in his bid for re-election this year, and acted on it. He already launched radio ads touting his effort to block President Obama's "extreme left wing crusade." And just this week, Sen.-elect Scott Brown (R) recorded robocalls that went out to voters in Arizona.

Now, a Rasmussen poll (502 LVs, 1/20, MoE +/- 4.5%) shows the Maverick just over 50 percent in a potential matchup against former Rep. JD Hayworth -- not the best position for an incumbent to be, but an improvement over the dead heat Rasmussen found in November.

Primary Election Matchup
McCain 53 (+8 vs. last poll, 11/18)
Hayworth 31 (-12)
Simcox 4 (unch)
Und 8 (+1)

so let me understand this

so because she was used to help McCain in the election she should now help him .

HUH

This is about helping conservatives to get elected and for the first time in a long time we have a good chance of getting rid of a RINO and some are not bothered by her helping this RINO?

She should say sorry but I have to be somewhere else and keep out of this race or take a stance as tough candidates do and should.

I thought we wanted to get rid of the RINO’s and the GOP elitists

her helping is not doing this

WHAT

McCain used her and then trashed her and you have no problem her helping him against a conservative and now you say Hayworth is getting to big for his pants

Sorry but I’ll take Hayworth a conservative over a RINO any day despite who is helping him

Thank you, Michelle would be a great candidate, along with DeMint or John Thune.

thanks a lot, Sarah

From the article:

"Still, 74% of likely GOP Primary voters have at least a somewhat favorable opinion of McCain, a figure that has not changed since November. Hayworth’s favorable ratings are down nine points to 58%."
Sarah caused Hayworth's 9-point drop in favorability and McCain's unchanged favorables (from November)? Please.

Proceed with your agenda.

Sarah is a great personality, but in no way do I want her for president.
Michele Bachmann is in a whole different league than Sarah.

I’ve been singing Bachmann’s praises for a few years now.

She is a leader and fighter who is smart and fearless.

I would like to see Bachmann and Demint on the same ticket.

I know this will ruffle some folks feathers here as there is a strange Sarah worship it seems, but that is my opinion.

You were saying ...

Scorched earthers: Sarah is a RINO!

There are some really crazy posters here on Free Republic, when it comes down to stuff like this... LOL...

I gotta laugh about it... some of them have written off Sarah Palin now and Ann Coulter, too -- because of their own pet peeves and insecurities.... :-)

Go Sarah Palin! You're going places, girl...

You sound like a democrat/lib. Nobody HATES Sarah here; we are just questioning her support of the extremely dangerous John McCain.

Her loyalty is nice, but at what price? He NEEDED her at the time to help garner conservative support, and she did get that for him. But this man has been way too detrimental to the party, and Sarah, no matter how much she is worshipped on this site, should stand on conservative principles and support the candidate who will adhere to those principles. We know that is not McCain.

McCain has been running radio ad's since the start of the year and McCain is now running nasty attack ad's against Hayworth ... and Hayworth has not even declared yet

Sarah has nothing to do with McCain’s pop. Lately, we have been seeing the “good” McCain, fighting spending, healthcare, National defense. At the same time, Hayworth is noncommittal sending lax attitude to voters. This can turn if Obama decides to bring up immigration reform or he start negotiating in the “gang of 14” style on cap and trade or healthcare.

Sarah isn’t a RINO, but she’s backing the leader of the RINO faction. In this particular case, she’s acting against conservative interests and deserves to be ignored. Unfortunately, she’s popular, so she’s culpable if McCain makes it. That’s a mistake that takes SIX years to fix.

She’s wrong. She deserves support only so long as she acts in the best interests of conservatives. Support her if you wish, but don’t come crying on Free Republic when McCain and his band of miscreants push the RINO agenda down your throat!

I gotta admit, I’m finding myself backing away after this one. There’s just no excuse for it. I just listened to the video from GB’s radio show where she tried to defend 1) McCain’s importance on healthcare (after the 2010 elections and, as Beck pointed out, when McCain just wants a slightly watered down version anyway?) and 2) in the war on terror (when he’s against enhanced interrogation techniques?)

As to the rest of it, she tried to explain that she believed McCain has seen the light on smaller government, blah, blah, blah. He has declined repeated opportunities to endorse her at the primary level for ‘12, I don’t see why she needs to endorse him against a viable, more conservative candidate in ‘10. I think it also reveals just how seriously she takes the ‘illegal means illegal’
line, as that’s one of the first things McCain would likely champion after reelection.

Ugh!

I’m with you, I love Sarah too, but Hayworth will have my vote. The Republican Party lost me when Bush first muttered amnesty for illegals, been a happy Independent since then and will remain so till all RINOs are gone from Republican Party

As approaching every election year, McCain gets conservative. He gets re-elected, and he will revert to his liberal side. Trust me. I will vote for almost anyone but McCain in the primary election. If he makes it to the general, I will hold my nose, as usual, and vote for him.
