This administration is all about driving a wedge between the U.S. and its allies. They did it with England, starting with Obama’s rejection of bust of Churchill, and now they’re doing it with Japan. All the better to further the ummah and the coming global caliph. See my tagline...

Ummm, I hate to burst anyone’s bubble here, but (according to the FBI and one of the suppliers in question), this is part of an antitrust investigation, and is unrelated to the Toyota recall.

I am far more embarrassed by our government than the head of Toyota is by his company's missteps.

Apparently, the only way GM and Chrysler (and the government) can outdo Toyota is to have their government "partner" publicly go Nazi on Toyota.

Michelle Obama might now be proud of Amerika, but all I feel is shame for our inept "leaders" and all they've done in our name.

Now I’m wondering how Japan’s government will react. They can’t be comfortable with the US government getting involved, especially when Toyoda himself is answering to congress...I wonder what their feelings are about this?

Oh they probably won't care much. Maybe they'll react about the way they did when Roosevelt cut off their oil supply in the 1930s.

What’s their incentive to lie about it? If this was truly related to the recall (and if, as so many on here are arguing, Obama wants to take down Toyota), why wouldn’t they just say so?

Toyota is too successful to continue in business. They must be eliminated.

I fail to see how an anti-trust investigation into several of Toyota's suppliers (note: not Toyota itself) is an attack on Toyota. If anything, if the issue is collusion/price-fixing between Toyota's suppliers, wouldn't this help Toyota?

I think Jim must have had a problem, beat off the Leftie Hords in short order. Seems fine now.

Yes I know. I bought dodge colts from 1989 until 1994. They had a great Mitsubishi engine. LOL

Two fold rationale - 1. Continue undermining the public perception of a monumentally popular, successful, and reliable automobile manufacturer. 2. Acclimate the populace to the coming governmental strongarm - all in the best interest of the citizenry, of course...

We have owned and loved Toyotas for over 25years, and NEVER had a single problem until the sunroof on my current 4Runner jammed. GREAT cars. What a coincidence, that GM’s strongest competitor is suddenly being painted as wholly untrustworthy....

But the vehicle isn't moving. The front wheels are locked. Furthermore, how many Toyotas will do what is happening in the picture. I'll say this as a crash investigator and know that I'm going to catch it for saying it, but anyone that can't figure out what to do in a supposed sudden acceleration has no business driving. I'm standing by for all the slings and arrows.

Correct. Static friction is clearly stronger than sliding friction.

Plus, Ford hires UAW workers, so it’s 50/50 that King Barry will go after them.

Yep. No business driving but they have their licenses.
