Charlie Rangel was alone and lost Wednesday, an aging and now powerless pol who didn't know where to go or what to do.

This narrative sucks. With his record, it should have read:

Charlie Rangel was alone and lost his cell, an aging and now powerless pol dressed in prison issue orange, who didn't know how he got to this point. Wearily, he raised himself from his hard metal bunk, and waiting for tray call -- the sign that lunch was coming.

Musings from David Gates:

Lost and all alone
I always thought that I could make it on my own
Since you left I hardly make it through the day
My tears get in the way
And I need you back to stay

I wander through the night
And search the world to find
The words to make it right
All I want is just the way it used to be
With you here close to me
I've got to make you see

That I'm lost without your love
Life without you isn't worth the trouble of
I'm as helpless as a ship without a wheel
A touch without a feel
I can't believe it's real...

And someday soon I'll wake
And find my heart won't have to break

Yes I'm lost without your love
Life without you isn't worth the trouble of
All I want is just the way it used to be
I need you here with me
Oh darlin' can't you see...
If we had love before
We can have it back once more

I just thought I'd help outpoor Charlie, let him know that he's not the only one who's been so sad, lost and alone ... he doesn't strike me as a kinda guy who would listen to Bread.

(shaking head) Good grief!!

From the Ways and Means' Facebook page: Did you know that Representative Roger Griswold (who served on W&M from 1797-1805) was the first Rep. to strike another on the House Floor? Griswold attacked Matthew Lyon with a cane, but Lyon defended himself with a pair of fire tongs. I hope they try and convict him and he gets to ponder his crimes behind bars.

He SHOULD be in prison with Duke Cunningham and others. The protection and enabling of Rangel’s operations is sickening. Those who have covered for him need to be prosecuted along with him. Of course, if anybody were to touch him, he’d cry racism in a heartbeat.

I hate the old race whore.

And, so far, I see nothing to indicate that any of the spoils of his crimes will be taken from him.

Your narrative will come to pass.

Ole Charlie will eventually follow the final footsteps of his *mentor*, Adam Clayton Powell. Whom as I recall, wound up in the slammer.

(I was a youngster then so I may be wrong on that)

Just think of this. Ted Kennedy, John Murtha dead and Charlie Rangel de-fanged within one year. Now that is Hope and Change I can believe in

Seeing him resign in disgrace due to corruption charges is highly enjoyable to say the least!

He hasn't resigned the House. Not even the Chairmanship of the Ways and Means Committee. He's on a "leave of absence", whatever that is.

Fact is, it's over for Charlie. He's simply being fired slowly.

"I'm quite certain we'll never see his like again", said Nancy Pelosi of Jack Murtha at his funeral.

Your bug-eyes don't miss much, Nancy, but you DO see "his like" every single day on the Democrat side of the House chamber.

Including, of course, Charlie ("I Served in Korea, you know") Rangel.

“...”Forty years - it’s been 40 years,” Rangel said with a smile of his 20 terms in the House...”

And therein lies the problem. He became a career politician (read: crook). He makes it sound like that’s some big accomplishment, 40 years. All that did was give him enough rope to eventualy hang himself. Pols like Rangle couldn’t cut it in the real world. To have a REAL job is unthinkable to his ilk. Name one legitimate job where the employees can vote themselves a raise every year. I can’t. 20, 30, 40, years is far too much time for anyone to sit up there on the Hill and get rich for doing nothing. I have come to the conclusion that being a politician has to be the easiest thing in the world. All you have to do is get elected then your in like Flint. You never leave the Hill because the Hill becomes your womb. It’s safe.

Ole Charlie is about to find out a very hard lesson. For all the deals, tricks, underhanded payoffs, and outright thievery, he is about to become just an ordinary disgraced pol that has stayed at the dance too long. At 79, and out of power, he will have nothing to fill his days with. One day, soon we hope, he will leave the Hill for good. And we can pray that he will be looking at a long stretch in a federal detention facility. His age should be of no concern. People his age and older have gone to prison. He’s no different.

This sob story has no affect on me. He has made his bed. Now he must lay in it. He alone has laid the groundwork for his ultimate demise. I can’t wait for his trial. May the verdict be one we can all celebrate.

Capitol guards eyed Rangel with concern as he wandered

Why? Is he unstable after 40 years and may off himself?

Let me take a few seconds to see if I care.

Please remember, it is temporary. When the investigation is done, he can come back.

Power is fleeting and so are the friends one gains with it. Perhaps it will occur to Rep. Rangel that all his years of work so far are built on a foundation of sand that goes away so quickly when a storm comes. I can hope, right?

He seemed out of it on TV and senile. Not in the best of health. He’s too power crazed to retire
