'Trust' Gap Between House, Senate Dems Hurting Health Care Push

House Democrats' distrust of the Senate is turning up as a major roadblock to passing health care reform. And they're playing right into Republicans' hands.

With President Obama pushing anew to pass the health care package through Congress in the coming weeks, several House Democrats have voiced concern that the Senate could betray them if they go along and pass its version of the health bill.

Trust is such a key factor because the end game for health care reform involves House lawmakers passing the Senate-passed bill, and then crossing their fingers in hopes that the Senate will follow up with a packages of changes to get it more in line with what many House Democrats want to see. That bill could, under the scenario, be passed with a simple majority by using the controversial tool known as reconciliation.

But what if the Senate never passes a second bill?

The article sort of makes it sound as if republicans were the one’s solely putting the idea of mistrust into democrat’s minds. As if it would be unlikely for demcrats to understand this for themselves.

Sounds a little like a liberal reporter at Fox wrote this.

Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.

The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.

“President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees” in fiscal 2010, Matz said. “We took them at their word, and I can’t believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward,” he added.

So true. Yeah, the health care system needs some tweeks, but NOT THESE MASSIVE changes with the IRS in charge.

I have a hypo-thyroid, I can’t take the generic because of the fillers side effects..and it isn’t absorbed by the body as well as the name brand Syntrhoid, and it doesn’t come in as many strengths. Endocrinologist won’t prescribe the generic because of the above reasons...people who take the generic form must be tested extra times a year IF they can get past the side effects. But you can’t get ins companies to do the name brand co-pay for it.

Just drives up health care cost...that and all those infections like staff and MRSA that patients pick up in hospitals..which means weeks extra in there, not to mention the additional meds they have to take. Nearly lost my son-in-law to a staff infection from a back operation.

The major problem for the House is not the senate, it is Obama. It doesn't matter what is in the reconciliation bill, he won't sign it. He is happy with the senate bill. I figure that since 99 44/100% of what he says is a lie, he will just use some off-the-wall excuse to not sign the reconciliation bill and we Americans and the House will be just SOL!

If the Senate was going to pass healthcare legislation with a simple 50 vote margin, then why wouldn’t they just pass the House version?
They wouldn’t need to appeal to Lieberman and Ben Nelson and other ‘moderates’. With just 50 votes needed, the progressives could go hog wild. And if they pass the House version in full, then the House wouldn’t need to vote again and it could go right to 0bama’s desk to sign.

No, Pubs are only reinforcing the distrust. Rats know better than anyone that Rats can’t be trusted. But they are right, the Senate has absolutely no incentive to do anything once they get what they want.
