Texas is thriving; California is dying: Liberalism kills conservatism builds.
The Collins Report ^ | March 8, 2010 | Kevin “Coach” Collins

Posted on 03/08/2010 6:04:03 AM PST by jmaroneps37

The contrast between Texas and California is so stark as to question the very possibility of the Golden State ever returning to balanced budget prosperity.

Liberal strongholds in San Francisco and Los Angeles have provided Democrats with the Legislative punch to gain a strangle hold on California’s governmental operations.

The far Left nature of both of these cities has led to the State’s complete capitulation to its public employees unions. The incestuous relationship these unions have with Sacramento Democrats has produced a “taxpayer be damned” attitude that will make curbing the costs of governing California virtually impossible.

Trading taxpayers for tax burners

The Census Bureau estimates that since 2000 more than 1.5 million taxpaying Californians have run away. This loss coupled with the coinciding arrival of a like number of tax money burning immigrants (legal and illegal) means California is headed toward becoming the first failed American state.

Texas: low taxes growing prosperity

Texas on the other hand has low taxes no state income tax and a growing economy to show for it.

Texas calls it’s Legislature together for just one 90 day session every two years. It’s almost nonexistent public employee union members work FOR the State of Texas. The State of Texas does NOT work for them.

Texans get genuine service from their civil servants. While its teachers are paid less than California’s teachers, Texas students score higher on standardized tests.

People across the country are moving into Texas yet its unemployment rate is lower than the national average. California’s unemployment is substantially higher.

Because of its pro-business atmosphere so many people will have moved into Texas that it’s on track to gain four new Congressional Districts all of which will likely be new Republican seats.

Texas is thriving; California is dying: Liberalism kills conservatism builds.

If we elect a conservative Congress and change the senate we can roll most of this damage back. We can't let up until November. We can take a short break then start working to kick this Marxist punk out of our White House.

“Texas on the other hand has low taxes no state income tax and a growing economy to show for it.”
Yup, and the Texans, along with the rest of us, will be severely punished by forcing us to bail out kalifornicate and all other lib states.

Texas better assert its rights under the 10th Amendment. Otherwise, it will be looted to benefit the moochers in other states.

This problem is nationwide.

WSJ had an article detailing the Govt Public Unions as the central battleground that most do not realize.

Newly elected New Jersey Gov Christie is trying to attack the problem head on-—he pointed out examples of public retirees getting 3 million from only 24k paychk deducts + free health care for life.......unsustainable

Mark Steyn pointed it out in an article just the other day-—its the system, we can wholesale change a bunch of politicians, but its the hundreds of thousands of embedded career Stateists that will not allow change.

You’ve got that right. We need to stay on course and get rid of ALL the “progressives” marxists in both parties. We have far too many socialist leaning Republicans in both houses.

I agree. As I drive to work in Dallas from East Texas, I see license plates from all over the US. My only concern is these transplants from other liberal states bring their liberal mindsets and vote for brain-dead DemocRAT candidates at election time.
As a native Texan, I welcome anyone willing to work hard for a better life, just don’t turn my beloved Texas into a liberal hellhole.

Keep in mind that our Texas State legislature only meet every two yers. That keeps them from being able to screw things up.

Yeah, unfortunately urban centers in Texas are being overrun with Kalifornia left coast liberals who fled under the weight of their own socialism. Now, they are infecting Texas with the same ideas and initiatives that has ruined Kalifornia. Austin is the prime example.

I live in Texas after Kansas, and while no income tax is nice, it’s made up for in much higher property taxes.

I’m so happy that rural Texas is our home. Unfortunately, we still live within range of the Austin media outlets & it gets quite disconcerting.

Hey, just go to Austin. I lived there for a while and was sickened by the crazy leftists there. The Zilker Park Posse for one - crazy greens that are against any growth of their little Marxist enclave. Lefty country singers like Ray Wylie Hubbard, Gonzo Bob Livingston. The “share the wealth” crowd, repression of personal freedoms in favor of “The Whole,” etc.

Yes, liberals will invade Texas and eventually destroy it. Its just a matter of time. “Free” everything is too much of a temptation to ignore.

It’s true that Texas has been growing with an influx of people. This growth will provide for a increase of Congress Critters by either 3 or 4 depending upon the Census count.

However I believe Texas as a state and at the local levels have some times of stress ahead of it in that we are seeing a reduction in jobs/employment, the state/local gov’ts have or are going to have deficits which will require belt tightenting, revenue enhancement measures such as raising taxes, fees, etc.

The Texas Legislaute meets for 140 days every other year, not 90 days. Lets see what happens by the end of their session on May 30, 2011 before we give them all the credit. They balanced the last two year budget using over $12 billion of stimilus money. Will Washington money be there to pull their hides out of the fire this time? We’ll see how much we get stuck.

Happened here in Colorado. We got californicated. Our whole state government is democrat now. Plus a couple of billionaire executives put a lot of money in to turn over the statehouse as well.

Yeah, unfortunately urban centers in Texas are being overrun with Kalifornia left coast liberals who fled under the weight of their own socialism. Now, they are infecting Texas with the same ideas and initiatives that has ruined Kalifornia. Austin is the prime example.

Only a matter of time before Texas gets “Californicated.” I meet more and more people here from California.

Like termites, liberals will move from state to state, until every state is just like California.
