A decennial tradition that dates back 220 years to the days of George Washington continues today when federal census forms start arriving at more than 120 million households across the United States.
But hanging over this 23rd U.S. census are concerns about a decline in participation.
While the U.S. census has always evoked some resentment toward the feds for poking their nose into people's business, there's a sense that America's distrust of the government has reached greater heights and could contribute to poor census returns.

Thank you for your post. It’s very true. But some people don’t want to take the time to do a quick search on past census forms, or, they just enjoy the feeling of their tinfoil hats on their tiny noggins. I dunno. Either way, the form really hasn’t changed that much.
I'd send it back now saying "Dunno yet. Won't have time for this after April 1st. Ask me again in 10 years..."

They sent me a nastygram and a new form. I still have that blank form from 2000.
Some of the questions I remember:
How many miles do you drive to work?
How long does it take you?
How many bedrooms in your home?
How many bathrooms?
How much money do I make a year?
It just went on and on, and none of the questions were any of their damn business, IMO.
