...my head is going to explode!
Antecdotal stories of hardship could be referenced regarding pretty much anything.
If this were a bill to give everyone a car:
"Tanya Jones is a single mother working two jobs. She has to use public transportation which cuts into her short time with her children 2 hours a day. Today we can get Tanya that car so she can be home with her children more."
Free phone service for everyone:
"Irma Johnson can't afford phone service. She recently fell in her home and spent two days in the floor because she could not call for help. Today we will get Irma the phone service she needs and deserves."
I have yet to hear one of these Dems say they actually pulled the money out of their own pockets to help these people. They cared more about having a ‘political story’ than they did actually helping them by breaking out their own checkbooks.
“When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.”
-—Ben Franklin
That’s how the left is. They make their policy decisions based on emotion and sob stories. Any kind of logic or analysis of an issue goes over their heads.
Unfortunately, too many of our fellow Americans are swayed by all the sob stories told by Obama and others.
all these sob stories should be a where are they now episode, because the Health Care bill is going to make their lives unbearable, and Democrats will have tossed them aside like Colosseum pillar props...
If this bill passes...can we then blame every death in the U.S.A. (that isn’t of natural causes) on the Democrats?
Liberals contribute less to charity than conservatives.
It’s probably because liberals think it’s the job of government to solve every conceivable social ill. So they see no need to contribute to charity.
Plus, the left gets outraged at “homophobia” and other sins committed by religious and charitable organizations, which convinces them that these organizations are worthless. This too reinforces in the liberal mind that only government can alleviate the social problems of society.
Yep. You can use anecdotal sob stories to justify any public support. How about someone hit by an 18 year old driver as an example of why we should keep 18 year olds from driving.
How about a failed business owner who’s sob story suggests the government should protect businesses from failing.
And on and on.
Seen on twitter:
Rats: “I met someone who died once, so give me all your money.”
Can you imagine a government so large, so powerful that nobody could ever fall through the cracks? Terrifying.
I have yet to hear one of these Dems say they actually pulled the money out of their own pockets to help these people. We so need another Davy Crockett.
Jim Lehrer: Which beings us to our final question. Governor Bush, both you and the Vice-President have offered plans to provide prescription drugs for the elderly. What makes your plan superior?
Al Gore: Jim, I'd like to interrupt here and answer that question as if it were my turn to speak. Jim, let me tell about a friend of mine. [ holds up a picture of an elderly woman ] Her name is Etta Munsen. She's 94, she's a widow living on Social Security in Sparta, Tennessee. Etta was born with only one kidney. She also suffers from polio, spinal meningitis, lung, liver, and pancreatic cancer, an enlarged heart, diabetes, and a rare form of styptic acne. Now, several recent strokes, along with an unfortunate shark attack, have left her paralyzed and missing her right leg under the knee. Just last week she woke from a coma to find that, due to a hospital mix-up, her left arm had been amputated, infected with syphilis, and then reattached.
Jim Lehrer: Mr. Vice-President, we are short of time..
Al Gore: As you can imagine, Jim.. Etta's prescription drug bills are staggering. They run to nearly $113 million a day! And she tells me that some weeks she has to choose between eating and treating her Lyme Disease. Now, under my plan, Etta's prescription drugs would be covered. Under my opponent's plan, her house would be burned to the ground. And that is wrong. That is just wrong!
Jim Lehrer: Governor Bush? Response?
George W. Bush: I believe that some of those figures may be in-ock-urate.
This is exactly why if Socialism/Communism/Marxism takes over the U.S., it eventualy will lead to the exponentially worst brutality and mass murder seen in history.
I hate seeing people who are struggling being used for political gain!
Let’s face it—todays vote has been about more free stuff for “everyone” but the ones who will have to pay for everyone elses free stuff.
Don’t worry. They broke it. Now the Dims own the bullshit. All the sob stories will be of folks denied drugs, procedures, surgery because of 0bamacare. How about the stories of doctors dropping Medicare and Medicaid, that’s a result of 0bamacare. You’re doctor, nurse, or pharmacist made a mistake because he/she was in a rush, yes it’s zero’s fault.
Zero is the new doctor evil!
