Shed No Blood For Oppression
03/22/2010 | Self

Posted on 03/22/2010 6:15:21 PM PDT by CJacobs

Do we conservatives REALLY want to end the government control of our health care? Just how serious are we in stopping this? I doubt we are motivated enough to damage the health care system in this manner, but if we were very dedicated to stopping this nationalization of our health care, we could make a huge statement to America. So much they would have to listen.

This is very radical idea that I propose. I know I will be crucified for suggesting this. People will hate me, even though I have done so much for others throughout my life. If conservatives were truly serious about stopping the nationalization of our health care, this could be done.

The answer is for conservatives to do NOTHING. No, this is NOT a proposal to stop paying taxes. This proposal is perfectly legal.

The campaign title is "shed no blood for oppression". We need to stop donating blood over a specific period of time.

If you read the book, "Who Really Cares", by Arthur C. Brooks, you will find that more conservatives than liberals (regardless of income) donate more blood. The liberals DEPEND upon us conservatives to be kind and generous, including our blood. We have always been generous in our charity. We have always responded when there was crisis in the blood donations. Knowing conservatives the way I do, we would never let someone die needlessly when it only takes a little bit of our time to save a life. As Christians, we feel it is our duty to help others in need. So I ask the Christians a simple question, "What extremes would you go to in order to save a human life?" Would you be willing to send some Soldiers into battle to stop oppression knowing that some Soldiers would be killed?

I suggest this "shed no blood for oppression" campaign for just two particular months. Those two months, which happen to be the most critical need for blood donations, are November and December.

The government can forcibly take our money. The government can forcibly dictate our health care, but the government cannot (at least right now), forcibly take our blood.

I have donated 11.5 gallons of blood (my official count, but I have actually donated more), but now I quit. I am calling for all of my fellow conservatives to protest this health care takeover by not donating blood in November and December in this "shed no blood for oppression" campaign. These two months will bring our health care system to its knees.

It is MY blood, and now I choose not to give it to you, America.

You want my blood America? Then give me back my freedoms, beginning with my health care. I will shed no blood for oppression.

I did not tell you what to do. I was not “giving orders” to anyone.

But I will offer the quote of one of the founding forefathers once said, “The price of freedom is shed with the blood of tyranny”.

You really don’t think socialized medicine will kill anyone? Which do you REALLY believe will kill more of our children? Two months of a short blood supply, or fifty years (or more) of socialized medicine?

Be honest in your answer.

Deliberately hurting sick people is a sure-fire recipe for losing the war. Just saying....

I'm all for doing whatever we can to repeal this bill but I don't think this idea will achieve that. My concern is it will hurt people who want this repealed just like we do. I can't give blood anyway because of Mediterranean Anemia but I would donate it if they would let me.

After you donate blood, you can’t give again for several weeks. You mean to tell me that over the years when I chose not to donate blood (after being eligible again), I was killing someone? OUCH.

One other VERY important point to make that everyone is missing. Go back to the book, “Who Really Cares?”. This Syracuse professor (contrary to his beliefs) found that it is the conservatives that donate the blood.

Why do WE conservatives have to do most of the charity in this country. If we sit on the sidelines just once, it will force those bleeding heart liberals who ACT like they care so much for their fellow human beings to finally get off their lousy read ends and FINALLY do something themselves... like donate some blood!

One thing we can all do is to get on the phone to your brokers, divest yourself of all G.E., AFLCIO, Microsoft, Media, and other positions of those who have enabled this socialist administration. Make these companies pay for supporting the shredding of the constitution, just like the Dems trumpeted the divestiture of South African Stocks a couple of decades ago. Call your retirement TPA’s and dump them. There are plenty of American companies to replace them with. When the offending CEO’s realize they cant get venture capital, and Boards are displeased, they will either have to change their tune, or step down.

Sacrificing ourselves for our cause is appropriate, but not sacrificing someone else.

Bringing commerce to a halt for 15 days would be more effective, but it would only be a minor irritant. "Going Galt," as they say, is one potentially effective, non-violent tactic, but is it sustainable? Will the producers "Go Galt" in sufficient numbers and for sufficiently long to actually starve the beast in Washington, D.C., and bring the federal government to its knees? I'd like to see it, but I remain dubious.

The ballot box has failed, quite obviously. We've written, called, e-mailed, faxed, protested, and marched. Those in Congress and the White House and all other federal institutions mock us, belittle us, and ultimately ignore us. They classify us as potential terrorists. They control the media, the courts, the police, the military, the schools, the unions; the list goes on and on. They have endless ways with which to harass us. They take and take, and we just grumble about it and continue working and producing, hoping that someone, anyone, will finally stand up for us and fight our fight so we can keep living our lives.

They are not afraid of the citizenry. It shows in everything they say and do. They must be made to fear us before the power-mad would-be dictators at the Capitol will curtail their ways.

I've heard lots of theories over the years. These discussions usually end with, "Well, we'll just vote them out in [insert relevant election date here]. We just need to wait for [insert name of this month's political golden child here] to get into office."

It never works!

Unfortunately, I see no better, more productive, and ultimately successful way to refresh the Tree of Liberty than with its natural manure.

"This is a better alternative that a violent revolt or a civil war."

Why, exactly? Be honest.

Whatever else might be said (and adding that ideas are needed for taking back our country), I think it's an untenable idea.

First, you are asking many conservatives to go against their nature. It's hard to get people to do something that's against their nature and their character. Far easier to get them to do things that are in character.

Secondly, in order for something like this to have the desired effect, it would have to be done en masse. The fact that you have so few takers already shows that not enough people would take up the idea to have the desired effect.

Third, it's a tactic that would allow the opposition to paint conservatives in a negative light.

For all these reasons, I don't think it's a workable idea.

Why is it that if the conservatives boycott giving blood that you think people will die? Why? Because you must then realize that it IS the conservatives that donate the most in the blood supply.

And since when is it MY responsiblity to donate blood? People like me have donated for years and years and years. In my case, 11.5 gallons. It is becoming quite evident that all those donations were not very well appreciated, as it CLEARLY shows on this thread. This thread goes on the assumption that if people like myself skip donating for just two months, WE are baby killers. WOW!!!!

Make the liberals finally step to the plate in a crisis. If they don’t give this small amount of charity, then the blood should be on THEIR hands, not ours.

The ballot box has not failed. We need to convince as many people as possible to vote our way. That is one of a very few practical ways to succeed.

Protest is effective only if it convinces politicians they will be impacted at the ballot box. Politicians will not react to a “blood scarcity” protest. They’ll simply spend tax dollars on a blood drive.

Withholding charity doesn’t seem like a good way to convince others they should vote like you (which they clearly should, IMHO).

Of everyone that posted on this thread, YOU presented the best case against this. That is that this DOES go against the values of the Christian Conservative.

I know, because I struggled with this myself. This was NOT just a suggestion that I threw out. I had been pondering this for days before the health care vote.

There have been times that I did not donate blood. There were times that I know that my blood has gone to people who would curse me, spit on me, and hate every bone in my body. There are probably some that got my blood that wouldn’t mind killing me, either.

But, being a Christian, I still knew it was the right thing to do.

But now, I see oppression taking over this nation. I know history, and oppression is a VERY ugly future. If two months could change that course of events, I would exchange that in a heart beat.

But you are correct. This goes against the values of the Christian Conservative.

Interesting post. When thinking of the future, one verse always comes to mind:

And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. Matthew 24:12-13.

The evil we witnessed yesterday is mild compared to what’s coming. As a Christian, love must prevail.

Make no mistake, I do not suggest that you continue being charitable against your will. That’s what these slimeballs in our government do every day, culminating on the confiscation of liberty they exercised last night.

My point, and possibly imperfectly phrased, is that offering to sacrifice someone else for one’s own ends is immoral in whatever context. If it seemed like I meant otherwise, my apologies.

Frankly, I think that not donating blood for two months is an empty gesture.

Actually, considering the questions they ask, there is a lot of truth to that. Disqualifiers include:
Having sex with any man since around 1980
Having sex with more than 7 women
Using drugs or needles
Tatoos (for a certain period)
Certain STD's
Having sex with anyone with certain STD's
Paying anyone for sex

and MANY more...

But the most personal question they ask me before giving blood is:

HOW MUCH DO YOU WEIGH? OUCH!!!!!

I apologize that I do not understand your question. I interpret essence as "spirit", "heart", or "soul".

A reference to a famous line from the movie "Doctor Strangelove"....

Absolutely not.

Morally wrong, politically disastrous.

Blood banks will just drop their standards and PAY for blood, ANY blood, even dirt-bag blood. I want to pay them back as well, but there needs to be a more painful, reliable method that is SPECIFIC to those who have harmed us not just probable innocent victims of injury or illness.
