Police and protesters engage with one another in downtown Portland this afternoon.A group of protestors marched through downtown Portland this evening, expressing anger at Portland police in connection with a pair of police shootings over the last couple of months.
The group first gathered in the South Park Blocks, near Southwest Salmon Street and Park Avenue, and then began marching toward the Willamette River.
About 150 people took part, many of them wearing masks, calling out chants and carrying signs.
One of the most common chants was "Cops, pigs, murderers" while another was "When cops attack, stand up, fight back."
Police accompanied the group, using pressure to keep marchers on sidewalks as they walked through the city, past the Hatfield Federal Courthouse and then turned south on Third Avenue.
The protest was just the lastest of several that have happened in Portland recently in connection with two police shootings. One happened Jan. 29, when police shot and killed Aaron Campbell in Northeast Portland in a situation that started out as a welfare check.
The second took place earlier this month when an officer shot a homeless man in Hoyt Arboretum when the man advanced toward him with a knife.
Is this what passes for journalism these days? Good Lord....

I hate those leftists marching against the cops, but Portland has had way too many uninvestigated or lightly-investigated deaths of unarmed people.
Now, the guy advancing with the knife, he deserved to get shot. But James Chassee, kneed, kicked and beaten so he had broken ribs, collapsed lung, ruptured spleen, who ultimately died because they didn’t take him to a hospital, all because he was peeing into a bush?

I also know the former wives of three Portland police officers. Dated one for about six months. Helped her clean out her garage one Saturday and found over 150 driver’s licenses tossed in a box. Now exactly why would a cop do that?
All three told some very disturbing stories about the PPD.

I know, from experience, that some prosecutors are corrupt to the bone...
Since the Grand jury transcript has been made public (a very unusual occurrence) you could look it over, and show where this prosecutor manipulated its findings.

Several years back, George W. Bush came to Portland to speak at the University of Portland (an ostensibly Catholic campus).
The number of protestors there was pretty significant - probably 3K to 7K - and there was a faction there which I recognized from many encounters before as the usual cast of vandals and front-line rabble-rousers.
I was seated in a lawn chair, holding an American flag and a counterprotest (pro-Bush) sign, and having a spirited debate with a couple of them, knocking their feeble arguments down one after another, and finally succeeded in provoking their true, hate-filled anti-Bush, anti-capitalism, anti American rhetoric, and eagerly hoping they might totally lose their cool and lash out. They started to react and I handed my sign and flag to a lady next to me, and stood up out of my chair. It was at that point, I think they suddenly figured out I was 6’4 and not exactly a scrawny beanpole, and took a couple of obvious steps back.
I hollered a few choice comments after them as they retreated, and it was just them that a few PPB riot cops came by - big smiles on their faces, having seen and heard all. One commented “Wanna join us, we could use the extra help, and you might have a little fun?!” Gesturing at their helmets, batons and plexi riot shields I popped off, “If you have an extra set of gear, I’d love to!”
They all looked at one another, looked over at their personnel transport and looked back at me - still smiling, and then one finally said “well - really we can’t...buuuut...”
Then their radios crackled and they took off at a trot.
But I know they were thinking hard about it...LOL! Ohhhh, I would have loved to crack a baton on some socialist-hippie skulls...!
