It was fought for Money. Slavery may have been an emotional rallying point, (a good one at that), but it was for the power full to benefit. It's like in Europe, the War of the Roses, Protestants v. Catholics may have been an emotional rallying point, but there were other reasons in play. The truth be told I'm not any history expert, just passing on the little I picked up on.
