Rep. Phil Hare (D-Il) displayed an amazing mastery of ignorance regarding the US Constitution. In a YouTube video he plainly and unequivocally stated that he does not care about the US Constitution "on this" referring to the constitutionality of the new Healthcare Reform bill mandating - compelling - US citizens to purchase health insurance.
When asked "where in the Constitution does it give you the authority" to mandate compulsory health insurance, Rep. Hale's response was "I believe that is says that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"
When reminded that he was actually quoting the Declaration of Independence, Hale retorted "It doesn't matter to me."
When asked if he actually read the 8,100- page bill, he said that he read it three times.
What a prolific reader! He read the 8100-page bill three times?
LET'S DO THE MATH:
(8100) pages X (3) readings = (24,300) pages @ 1 minute per page
(24,300) minutes divided by (60) = (405) hours
(405) hours divided by (24) hours per day = (16.875) days assuming there were no interruptions for such necessities like eating, sleeping, etc.
If we assume that - more reasonably - Rep. Hart devoted only (40) hours per week - ( 8) hours per day - to read this bill, it would have taken him exactly (50.635) days.
How stupid does he think we are?

Another Hare-brained comment from an idiot in the U.S. House of Representatives!
Bald faced anti-constitutionist...
This will make a good clip in a political ad.
Bill is 2700 pages.
If the bill was read 3 times, it would mean that the person read 8100 pages total.
You need to adjust your computations accordingly.
Now - Congressional bills - typically wider margins and double spaced ...makes for reading faster. But - very hypertechnical, can make references to other bills so that the language is anything BUT plain language - therefore it is tougher to read.
I woder what his views on the possibility of Guam capsizing are.
It’s become impossible to figure out who is the dumbest Democrat in Congress. I thought we had a winner with that Guam stuff, and now this. Who knows what will happen next week?
As he says, he doesn’t care about the Constitution. He is a typical Rat.
Hare is a moron. I got into it with him at the washington dc rally last week. He tried to tell us a sob story about his dad on his deathbed saying Phil should take care of his mother and sisters, and how lucky he was to have Medicaid. I told him-exactly-your dad told YOU to take care of your family, not the govt. I told him that is what families and churches are for. He looked at me and said, so you don’t want medicaid or social security? And all of us said, no we don’t He looked at us incredulously. What a dope.
Grounds for impeachment and removal if proven. When do we start the proceedings?
We are not worried about Constitution, we are worried about our Congress and Congressmen
His freedom to use his money the way he wants to is being taken away. He now will be forced under penalty of fines and imprisonment to take money he would have put to his kid's college educations and use it to buy insurance he does not want or need.
I would tell you what he thinks of Obama, but I would be banned.
That may be true ... and probably is true, except in cases where he can cite the Constitution to his own advantage.
But let's put Mr. Hare aside for the moment, and consider a much more important question:
What if ... as seems to be the case ... most people don't really care about the Constitution?
Recall what John Adams said: "We have no government armed in power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a religious and moral people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other."
The real question is: have we reached a point where our Constitution is no longer adequate for the government of our actual population?
If so ... what should we do about it?
Maybe he read the cliff notes version.
Thanks Uncle Peter.
It was an attempt to confuse facts with emotion by an representative who understands neither.
This guy could compete with the Capsizing of Guam representative for stupid YouTube clip of the year.
“I believe that is says that we have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”
Not at someone else’s expense, jerk.
Not at the expense of someone else’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This is the mindset we’re dealing with, folks.
Unfortunatly, he’s not the only one, nor is it only limited to politicians.
“It doesn’t matter to me.”
Grounds enough for impeachment or recall
Get rid of this jackass
