Burdened under a mountain of student debt? CNN has the answer - dedicate ten or so of your prime years to social work. Better yet, join the AmeriCorps.
Doing her best to channel Obama's inspiring Notre Dame address about shunning immoral endeavors in the private sector for virtuous and selfless community endeavors, Stephanie Elam sounded more like a Public Works Czar than a CNN correspondent on April 6.
"This is really about helping those people out, getting them ready as far as the choice for best course of study for the financial future," Elam said on CNN "Newsroom." "So you may consider the possibility of enlisting in public service. Demand is really high right now for government jobs ... and any remaining debt on federal student loans will be forgiven after you work full-time in public service for ten years."

I thought debtors’ prisons were a thing of the past.
AmeriCorps = Obama’s civilian army
Helen Keller could have seen this one coming.
Probably not. She’s been dead over 40 years. ;-)
And still looks better than Helen Thomas.
Selling yourself into servitude.
Why not the military? (please respond with Capt. Obvious answer)
The Peace Corps is a waste of money that has had an overall negative effect on the world. It should be abolished.
Now who didn't see THIS coming when Barry took over the student loan program.
Keep those bright 20-somethings on their parents’ insurance
Send them to the inner cities to teach and give out AIDS tests and free condoms, and to the fields to pick grapes - organize organize organize those communities
Chairman Mao made it work!
But unlike Mao, keep their parents working at those evil immoral high paying capitalists jobs in banking health care and business
Because someone has to donate to the DNC and someone has to pay taxes.
But don't get me wrong,
Personally, I think every altruistic 20-30 yr old unemployed liberal should be drafted to teach for 3 years in an inner city or low income community middle or high school, just to get real familiar with the culture they'll be supporting.
I often wonder about the banker down my street who proudly displayed an Obama yard sign during the election. He is called a fat cat banker by Obama. Now his bank has lost student loan subsidies.
Michelle Obama ran around Ohio saying this early on in the campaign. Why was no one taking her seriously?
ten years of brainwashing ought to do it...no problem.
I have student loans, I went back to school after I retired from the USN. Do you think they will take a 56 year old white guy that spent 27 years in the blue water navy?
If you’re paying list price or more for education, you’re doing it wrong. That’s what my wife & I learned over the course of 5 degrees. Work hard, shop around, be flexible ... there are a lot of people (the schools included) who want to give you money for school.
If you want an _education_, all MIT courses are available online for FREE: http://ocw.mit.edu ... and other schools are doing the same. It’s the piece of paper at the end that costs you.
Seen it coming?? She voted for it!

Ten years? Good grief. How much debt are we talking about here? I am an attorney and have better than six-figures of student loan debt ... and even then, that’s only $10K to $15K a year of benefit. That’s hardly an extraordinarily difficult figure to make in the private sector. You can make $12K a year delivering pizzas.
SnakeDoc
Shes been dead over 40 years.
still... she coulda seen this coming
Now that the Fedgov has taken over 100% of student loans, they can "forgive" repayment of the loans to "good comrades" who work on projects approved by the Fedgoons.
