WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama suggested Wednesday that a new value-added tax on Americans is still on the table, seeming to show more openness to the idea than his aides have expressed in recent days.
Before deciding what revenue options are best for dealing with the deficit and the economy, Obama said in an interview with CNBC, "I want to get a better picture of what our options are."

Not sure what that means, but can recognize that it is four letters, repeated multiple time sequentially, with lots of exclamation points after it.
I think we agree - a VAT tax is a very bad idea. My opinion is the only reason it should be used is to dig us out of the mountain of debt we have and then with very specific, targeted, and limited uses in combination with blanket limits on Congressional spending.
Giving Congress more money is not a solution. Paying off our national mortgage is necessary. Ignoring it won't make it go away. Trusting Congress to deal with it will make it worse. About the only viable solution is a constitutional amendment which limits Congress's power to spend our money, phases out entitlement programs, and raises the funds to pay the tab.
We are way past the time to bitch about the problems - the check is due. We need solutions and unfortunately real solutions mean that entitlements need to be phased out asap and we need to raise the funds to pay off decades credit card spending.
That is the reality.
It will take a while I fear. They plan/hope is to keep things afloat until the economy turns around. Of course the borrowing required to do this will be staggering, but the banksters will survive pretty much in tact.
Bernanke believes the cause of the Great Depression was the failure of the financial system, he is intent on preventing a recurrence of this failure. They also believe that inflation is better than deflation, I think primarily because of the huge debt owed by the government and the resistance to wage deflation built into the system (minimum wage, UE bennies, etc).
So extend and pretend is the MO, it will just prolong the necessary adjustments however.

Just heard IMF, Which by the way who is the IMF...Who appointed these people to handle internationals monies? At any rate, they want an international tax on all banks world wide with that tax going to the IMF...then...they want to do the same thing on the international community!!!...that includes the USA. You can bet money that BO is setting the us citizen up to climb on to the international economic system ASAP....He'll go to war with Iran just to bring us down the rest of the way...just before the election so the people will get behind him..then he'll come in for the kill.
BTW...any who hate what is happening and the administration causing these things has a right to feel that way....I don't think God is happy either..after all He is the one the nation was founded on and Bo is fighting Him...

Glenn Beck does his thing, (very well) but he is so far limited to Fox News and talk radio, and I'm afraid that the target audience is not there. But we're making great progress!

This is only one day after saying there would be no VAT. When ever the POS administration denies something you know it is being written up even as they are lying about it.
Ain't gonna happen anytime soon- but maybe in late December of this year, after the dust settles.
