Did it ever dawn on you that maybe they are all on board for all of this?

You better believe Democrats lie awake at night dreaming up ways to increase taxes. A one hundred percent tax on the “wealthy” wouldn’t be enough for them.

I respectfully disagree. The VAT tax was part of the plan all along. It was part of the plan, as the health care legislative push, the slimy deals, and attacks on our allies. They openly spoke of exactly what they would do if and when they controlled an unopposed majority in our government.

Yes..and understood but who appoints those seated in the IMF? When they were holding the Copenhagan Summit....one of the hitches that was so opposed was transferring from the UN, who distributes monies internationally, to the IMF. They want the carbon tax fees to go thru the IMF and the IMF determine who gets what. The poorer nations opposed this greatly....they are acccustomed to the UN cash cow where corruption reigns.

So if the IMF gets carbon taxes, and they impose the tax on all banks which is in the pipeline, and they tax every citizen with an international tax........can you imagine the monies this group of people will have control and power to use as they see fit??????

I can see the Federal Reserve being locked out or done away with in short order....because the IMF wants all monies on their table internationally.

I figured out who Geithner looks like. You know the bad guy in Ghost? Remember the part where he realizes the money he had embezzled was gone from his account?

He said his first priority "is to figure out how can we reduce wasteful spending so that, you know, we have a baseline of the core services that we need and the government should provide. And then we decide how do we pay for that."

Obama wants to "reduce wasteful spending" like al qaeda wants to reduce terrorism.

"I know that there's been a lot of talk around town lately about the value-added tax. That is something that has worked for some countries. It's something that would be novel for the United States." "And before, you know, I start saying 'this makes sense or that makes sense,' I want to get a better picture of what our options are," Obama said.

That should be easy for Gibbs to spin.

It would take a lot of suicides or resignations to get an honest POTUS. 4 or 5 Dem senate resignations would help though.

RE :”Volcker has said taxes might have to be raised to slow the deficit's growth. He said a value-added tax “was not as toxic an idea” as it had been in the past.

Republicans need to point out that Obama setup a debt commission to get him out of his constant promises that the middle class <250 K would never have to pay for ANY of his spending. Not only did he promise us not to raise them to get elected, but he said the stimulus was free, he said his budgets were free, the GM bailout was free, AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddy MAC all free to us. There is no f..ing way any of this stuff would have passed congress if he didnt constantly lie about who would pay for it. He is not the first, but he is the worst.

His debt commission is like his 100 economists that he claimed said we need to run up the $700B stimulus debt bill on wasteful spending. Paul Krugman was probably the only one he really had.

Don’t forget Volcker is a life long Democrat, so of course adding a VAT is “more palatable” now ;-)

It doesn't matter if he is a libertarian, he was not elected to anything and has no real power or responsibility to us. A worse problem is the bipartision : ‘debt commission’. Pelosi says their recommendations, which will be all poison meaning tax increases, entitlement cuts, will be put on the floor for a vote.

When republicans and many democrats vote against it and it fails, does that mean Obama thinks his hands are clean on all the debt he ran up? Seems Republicans must make him own the debt until he is out of office.

Cutting spending by 35% should be an option

It's a certainty. Just don't ask, "Whose spending?"

Because it won't be the government's.
