Eric Cantor announces a new website to vote on what you think should be cut. http://www.republicanwhip.house.gov/youcut
This is ongoing. Every week there will be another list.
Eric Cantor information ping!

Reminds me of Proxmire. Just pissing in the wind is all.
Is that what Proxmire did in his day? And no action?
I just cliked cast vote and it went through even though it asked for an e-mail address (which I left blank)
Nice website, but I wish there were an “All of the Above” option.
Agreed. Maybe an Email to him would do it.
Cut?
It is TIME to DownSize DC! Close entire Departments. (Education, EPA, etc)
It is TIME to force Congress & Senate to telecommute most of the year from their districts. Away from lobbyists and under the thumb of the electorate. Can you imagine how that would change the center-of-gravity of the U.S. Government? Imagine the cost savings on operation, and the empty office spaces in the fester called DC.
It IS TIME to Drain the Swamp!
Isn’t he just the Orrin G. Hatch of the House now?
Cool it. New cut options every week.
There is a charge for the Text......it’s just a money making scheme.

Get all the facts before you go on a rant.
Everything including Congress and this administration.
There, that was easy. Now do it.
“People will vote on what they feel should be cut, reduced, or eliminated and nothing will be cut, reduced, or eliminated.”
You’re entitled to your opinion. It could catch on, and raise awareness. However, if you don’t think so, maybe you’re right.
Maybe we should all do our best to promote it, and see how it works. It actually seems kind of smart, considering that awareness on this issue is at an all time high.
Of course its posturing to some degree, because he’s a politician like any other. But that’s the system we have. We should work within the system to the extent possible. If a lot of people get involved, and the Republicans put each issue to an up or down vote, there could be a good feedback loop started there, given people’s level of awareness, and it could be an additional tool to hold those who vote for more spending accountable.
But if you want to just poo poo it, and say it’s not going to work, maybe you are right, but I would submit that maybe you should start your own effort instead, one that will work better. Cantor has his faults, but fiscally he is much more desirable than a lot of alternatives. Establishing fiscal responsibility is important. And this is a step in the right direction, if not a perfect step.
This is not only directed at ProtectOurFreedom:
A lot of people come on this site and critique others’ efforts, which is in general is good. People should be critiqued, and especially Republicans. Republicans should have their feet held to the fire (that’s an expression, just so someone doesn’t think I’m inciting violence.)
But its also just like Rush said the other day. He said something like (paraphrasing) I get emails from all of you constantly saying this sucks that sucks, everything sucks. So instead of sitting at your computer sending me emails 24 7 telling me how everything sucks, why don’t you go out and become an activist, or go out and run for office, and change it.
That also could apply to many on this site who go out immediately when an idea or initiative comes out, and immediately start talking about how bad it sucks.
Just a thought. However, anyone who wants to just sit around saying everything sucks, I guess that’s your choice.
Maybe you could also post a description of what you did in your life to change what sucks.
