Best thing he did, the state had surplus and he gave it back to the people which threw the unions into a tizzy...
And now it's this joker.........
Me too.
I GTFO when Gray Davis came in.
How about the toughest choice of all ... cutting taxes and regulations, and making California a place where people want to come and set up businesses?
Sounds good to eliminate welfare, but it just shifts costs to County government because they will all go on General Assistance. Also, currently County jails hold prisoners who have sentences up to a year. The Gove. is going to make that 3 years. Our jail currently has a 6-9 mo. wait to get in. Gues people will just not have to serve their sentences.
No doubt CA will screw that up fiscally too.
The people of CA voted long ago to cut of welfare and state programs for illegals. A court objected and the state never appealed. CA will never get a grip on its financial problems with out cutting the illegals out our schools, hospitals, welfare and prisons.
We need to start enforcing immigration law and force the illegals to leave..period. The alternative is Greece..or worse.
California is Greece.
“The movie star turned governor..”
The European turned U.S. citizen. Guess he should have taken European history. If he did, he failed.
EUroKalifornia .. We knew thee well.
I do not know who is more unqualified - him or Barry....
Heyup.
I seem to recall Arnie campaigning on the basis that he was the man to make tough choices....
Maybe a it’s time for states to start using real punishment, discipline and rehabilitation instead of the wastefulness and idiocy that has become our penal system. Years in jail is ridiculous. It’s time we go back to the practice of carrying out a sentence and moving on. The idea of prison is stupid anyway.
Yep - it’s just like Greece.
And when our government tries all the “fixes” that the EU has done with Greece...well, we might as well be Greece. :(
Two peas in a pod.
There was a time when SchwartzenKennedy was for EXACTLY that, and evangelized that to anyone who would listen, and even forced it on those that wouldn't.
If you check out - posted by another FReeper tonight - this link to watch Milton Friedman's "Free to Choose" series, you'll see a young Arnold proudly giving a glowing introduction, and stating unequivocally that Socialist Europe needs to get the message of deregulation.
The fall of Schwartzenegger from Fiscal Conservative to Fiscal Joke has to be one of the saddest things I've ever seen. I always knew he was a libertine; I guess this confirms that social liberals always develop into fiscal liberals.
“The people of CA voted long ago to cut of welfare and state programs for illegals. A court objected and the state never appealed.”
1994. Judge Marianne Pfaelzer objected to Prop 187, sat on her decision for two years, and when Pete Wilson left office she conspired with incoming Democrat Governor Gray Davis to see that an appeals court didn’t get the chance to review her decision. Basically two individuals thwarted the will of millions of California voters. So much for the value of voting in this state.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has had the opportunity to reject this antidemocratic Davis/Pfaelzer agreement since the day he took office as Governor. Arnold hasn’t done it because he’s part of the GOP’s pro-illegal alien faction, much the same as Bush and Rove. There is little reason to believe that a Republican replacement for Arnold would be any different.
We need to pass another initiative patterned exactly on Arizona’s bill. California’s voters will have to compel its politicians to obey and enforce the laws. The two parties will continue to come as close to sedition as they can unless the voters force them to do otherwise.
