You KNOW it’s over for the United States when the apple pie moms like Laura Bush and Palin turn feminist man-haters.

And Palin is a man-hater, how???

Want a quick indicator of those in the GOP who view the Constitution as a dishrag?

Find all who have degrees from any Ivy League school. Especially Harvard or Yale.

Right there is a strong predictor of anti-American tendencies.

Bush Jr. was Yale undergrad and Harvard MBA. Both elitist and an idiot about business. When you look across the wreckage of the economy, you find a great number of Harvard MBA’s in hotspots of the meltdown - who thought clear through August 2008 that they were right and this “sub-prime” thing was so very overblown.

Go ahead. Check ‘em out.

I’d prefer to be led by 535 PFC’s covered in mud from the USMC than the graduating class of any Ivy League school. The PFC’s are much smarter than the graduates of Ivy League schools - their NCO’s have drummed into them one very important fact: they don’t have all the answers, and that they could be wrong. And that being wrong sometimes hurts.

Whereas the Ivies have convinced their graduates of the complete opposite.

I wonder if Laura knows Kagan's Bio: Bio: Elena Kagan Source: DiscoverTheNetworks.org http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/individualProfile.asp?indid=2398 A week after Ronald Reagan’s presidential victory in November 1980, Kagan, who was then a student at Princeton University, contributed a piece to the Daily Princetonian, wherein she gave voice to her angst over the apparent demise of the left. She wrote that her immediate “gut response” to Reagan's election had been to conclude “that the world had gone mad, that liberalism was dead, and that there was no longer any place for the ideals we held or the beliefs we espoused.” Soon thereafter Kagan predicted, with a hopeful spirit, that “the next few years wmarked by American disillusionment with conservative programs and solutions, and the new, revitalized, perhaps more leftist left will once again come. The following year, Kagan penned her senior thesis—titled “To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933”—wherein she specifically thanked her brother Marc, “whose involvement in radical causes led me to explore the history of American radicalism in the hope of clarifying my own political ideas.” In the body of that work, Kagan lamented: ▪ That “...a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States”; ▪ That “Americans are more likely to speak of...capitalism’s glories than of socialism’s greatness”; ▪ That “the desire to conserve has overwhelmed the urge to alter”; ▪ That “in a society by no means perfect,” no “radical party” had yet “attained the status of a major political force”; ▪ That “the socialist movement [had] never become an alternative to the nation’s established parties”; ▪And that the Socialist Party had “exhausted itself forever and further reduced labor radicalism in New York to the position of marginality and insignificance.” Kagan called these developments “sad” and “chastening” for “those who, more than half a century after socialism’s decline, still wish to change America.” After graduating from Princeton in 1981, Kagan earned a Master of Philosophy degree from Worcester College at Oxford University in 1983, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1986. She then took a job as a law clerk for Judge Abner Mikva, a leftist member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Later, she clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, whom she now identifies as her hero. In 1988 Kagan worked on the presidential campaign of Democrat Michael Dukakis. In 1991 she became an assistant professor at the University of Chicago Law School, where she first met Barack Obama, a fellow faculty member. THis lady is unquestionably a Socialist.

“Why couldn’t she say, “I just don’t know enough about the law to have an informed opinion?”

Know anyone on this board who would admit to that?

Don’t clutter this discussion with facts! Do not attempt to use common sense to get to the truth.

You, just like so many others, are supposed to immediately fold on anything the media says.... they are the truth... they are the opinion makers.

I saw the same thing that you did and I walked away with the same interpretation, but WE are all supposed to hate anything Bush, so shut up about all of this and get on the train!

Now, have a great day....

You are so right, ohioWfan. I just don’t bother reading any further when I come upon these obnoxious posts! And I don’t for a minute believe many of them who claim they have been life-long Republicans either.

I finished reading Laura Bush’s book last week. What an incredible woman! She gave l50% as First Lady. What a role model she is for all women and girls. I always knew we were blessed to have her and of course her husband for those 8 years. It’s as tho we’re living thru a bad joke now. I pray constantly for our children and grandchildren whose futures have been bankrupted

Just came from voting. Hope we’ll see that America is waking up!

Then why post in them? Jim Rob has given you unlimited bandwidth over at Fantasy island for you to gush your blind devotion to the Globalist Boosh to your hearts desire. So if you dont like to hear the facts about your idols please leave the thread to those who can discuss it for what it is rather than the deluded dreams of your past.

As Ann Richards could have said, “I cain’t hep it,” I’ve beome anti-Bush to the core but certainly not pro-Richards. The Bushes are a waste of our efforts. They must laugh at the “little people” who elected them.

The key person who didn’t defend the Bush administration’s policies was W himself.

That's what I have been trying to say for years.

Lots of 'seminar callers' posting as conservatives here. And others looking for an excuse to slam President Bush.

I agree with you about Laura's book. It's an intelligent, beautifully written account, not only of her life, but of the life of the country for those eight years.

It made me even prouder to be an American as I read her stories of traveling around the country and meeting courageous, sweet, strong, patriotic people.

I hope it stays on the best seller lists so more people can get to know her and the truth about what went on in the White House and the country. I certainly don't agree with some of the things she's been saying in interviews, but I respect her as a person greatly, and that's not going to go away.

Anyone who hates her now hated her before.

LOL! There sure aren't many "facts" in that post of your, Gass.

And I don't see a lot of "discussion" from Bush haters either.

Perhaps the "fantasies" are yours......

(You guys sure would like to get rid of us, though, wouldn't you? What are you afraid of? Balance? Truth? Disruption of your vitriol? Sure would be fun to find out).

This is a forum dedicated to politics. Conservative politics! Why don’t you take your mindless idol worshipping someplace else? It seems that you don’t belong here.

Oh my; please cut her some slack. Not everybody is brooding about politics day in, day out. She was probably just trying to say something nice. So she thinks it’s great that a woman is being nominated for the Supreme Court. You will find a lot of women who feel the same way. That alone doesn’t make them liberals.

I start with the ignorance of facts.

Appalling that they scream that they were deceived, that she pretended to be a conservative and now she has betrayed them.

She did not pretend to be a conservative. Not a shred of evidence that she ever once did that. She pretty much ignored ideology and chose to focus on areas of interest to her and be supportive of her husband.

If you follow what she has said, and other simple facts, we knew her whole family were Texas Democrats, that she was United Methodist - who don’t say “born again Christian” - and that she once replied to a question by saying she hoped Roe v Wade wouldn’t be overturned. She is still worried about “back alley abortions”.

If someone jumps in to argue with such passion - as those here have - it is inexcusable to be so devoid of any facts.

SHE BETRAYYYYYYYED US. SHE’S NOT A CONSERVATIVE LIKE SHE PRETENDED!!!!! is their enraged cry.

Spare me. Get back to me when you calm down and study the facts that were already available.

I watched her interviews. SHe dealt with the hurt and shame of accidently killing Mike Douglas...her best guy friend at only age 17. Then, she says over and over things she thinks will make everyone feel good about themselves and their lives. She makes clear she doesn’t want anyone’s personal feelings to be hurt...illegal immigrants, gays, pregnant women who are considering abortion or had one, etc. Just the issue debates bother her because people might feel hurt.

I understand her. THe family calls her “the rock”. Like Bar was “the enforcer”. She wants it all to be ok, to spare bad or hurt feelings. She is an island in the storm, for others she feels are having a bad time in life.

I disagree with her issue conclusions. But I see who she is. This is the flawed condition of us all...one way or another.

Except for one, Jesus Christ. And for his perfection, he was crucified.

BRAVA, txrangerette! Great post. Expect to be impaled. ;*)

We knew who Laura was. We knew she was personal and not political. We knew that she was never as conservative as her husband. And we knew she had nothing to do with making policy.

She was a gracious and classy First Lady with whom we disagree on some issues, and she did some great things for women, for boys, for all Americans.

I would give my eye teeth to have her back in the WH rather than the wretch who pretends to be a First Lady now. And anyone who would say otherwise deserves to be scoffed at.
