I can’t wait to see what happens when they cut the riser tube off. The result should be interesting.

Mr. Suttles said BP was collecting over 22,000 barrels per day from riser tool before starting the top kill procedure.
I thought all they could get was 5,000 barrels per day.
Mr. Suttles at 1:20 into video below.

I think they had to bump the number up because BPs stock price is down 7.25 percent today.

It is descriptive of the action, as opposed to the relief well that drills into the well from the bottom for essential the same action.

Risky but a buy of BP stock or stock options could be quite the move. There is already talk of other oil companies buying BP.

They also only gave it a 60~70% chance of working in the first place and have continued to prepare for the next attempt and never stopped drilling the relief wells.

It’s not a stupid name. It’s appropriate.

In my opinion, it sounds like a stupid MSM nickname.
But if it is the industry’s standard term, I’ll deal with it.

I’m sure everybody is tossing out hair brained ideas, but I’ve wondered if they could shoot a polymerizing agent down through the mud, and turn a long slug of the oil into say bakelight or some kind of hard plastic and thereby plug the damn hole.

Industry jargon doesn’t always make sense, initially, to the public, but usually it makes sense to those who are “in the industry” ... :-)

I’m watching the live feed. It looks like more than just mud is spilling out. Doesn’t this suggest that the top-kill has not worked.

Is there a web page with a real time map showing the spread of the spill, including where mere oil balls are coming ashore?
