The general-election contest between California Sen. Barbara Boxer and Carly Fiorina has just begun, but even in a year when voters’ main concern is the economy, it’s already shaping up to be a potentially vicious battle over abortion rights.
Though Boxer has long been the champion of abortion-rights groups, Fiorina has said she supports overturning Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion. And her endorsements by prominent anti-abortion groups, including the California ProLife Council and the Susan B. Anthony List, helped solidify her credentials as a conservative during the primary contest.
Fiorina’s position puts her at odds with the majority of California voters. Last year, two-thirds of Californians said they opposed overturning Roe vs. Wade, according to a poll by the Public Policy Institute of California. Among independents — who would be critical to Fiorina’s bid to defeat Boxer since Democrats outnumber Republicans in California — only 28% said they favored completely overturning the 1973 decision.

It takes some courage to run for state-wide office in California on a pro-life platform. It shouldn’t take courage, but sadly it does.
Does this mean you are supporting Barbara Boxer?
Assume that the LA Times is writing their article for latte-drinking Californians who are suddenly concerned about the fiscal direction the country is taking and are in danger of straying from the utopian lefty fold that has kept Barbara Boxer in power all this time. The LA Times must calculate that Californians really believe that the supposed “bad old days of back-alley abortions” are just around the corner, and that’s infinitely more frightening than this rumor of state and national bankruptcy, currency devaluation, etc. The bullshit is going to pile higher before November arrives.

California's unemployment rate, when you consider the underemployed and discouraged, probably exceeds 20%.
The Central Valley is returning to the desert from whence it came.
California is home to more illegal aliens than any other state and has more than one-third of the nation's welfare cases, again many more than any other state even on a per capita basis.
California has billions, if not trillions, of dollars of unfunded retirement liabilities to current and former public employees.
Public employee unions control the legislature and many city and county governments.
California has not balanced its budget in years, and its infrastructure is deteriorating.
Businesses are leaving the state in droves.
Total state taxes are the highest in the nation.
To all of these problems Babs has no answer because policies she favors have contributed to all of them. So she wants to talk about abortion. How predictable.
Carly would be wise to say that, as a Senator, she will vote to protect and preserve innocent life whenever the issues arises, but that the election is really about the problems created in California by Bab's failed liberal policies.
The primaries are over in California. The opportunity to elect a conservative to the Senate there is not happening this year. The choices are between a liberal Democrat and a RINO. It is my policy to always vote for the most conservative candidate that has a chance to win the election...and in this case, that means Fiorina. Anything else is a vote for Boxer and the Obama agenda.
No doubt the LA Times is in the tank for the unions and Brown. They are doing what they can to control the debate. This will be one article in many as the Times tries to control the talking points.
I assume that Boxer is the FR choice in this one.

It did not solidify her credentials, which she has none. All it did was discredit political whores within these groups and paint themselves as sell-outs.

The so-called pro-life Carly: “...(W)hile that is a very important issue, it is frankly a decided issue. The law is clear in the state of California, where there is a constitutional guarantee to the right to an abortion. So why are we talking about a theoretical issue?”
The so-called pro-life Carly who would have signed onto pro-abort Sonya Sotomayer's nomination to the Supreme Court.
These alleged pro-life groups can go to hell along with Carly and Babs Boxer. I will not vote for these whores. And anybody who doesn't like what I say can kiss my posterior.
I voted for Chuck DeVore and now I will vote for Fiorina.
Let’s be clear. I would crawl through broken glass under razor wire to pull the switch against Boxer. I have been voting against her since I was 18, and I am 36 now.
Any conservative worth their salt living in California will tell you the same.
That’s what I’m wondering about - it seems like most are more comfortable ‘rat than RINO.
Some people have the “principles.” I guess my distaste for Boxer trumps all of that.
