It’s what he needed to do.

I'd like to see several more top military commanders/Generals resign in support of him...

If not, why not?

Good for the general. He’s a hero. Obama is a sh*t.

Michael Yon, whose reporting I admire greatly, has been highly critical of McChrystal.

I am sure he will be pleased with this news!

I posted this on another thread. It seems appropriate here as well:

General McChrystal goes rogue.

Housing sales dip.

Judge slams Obama's drilling ban.

Gaza heats up.

Blago is on trial and the dirt is flying.

Polls say Hillary better POTUS than Obama.

No Congressional budget this year.

Insurance costs rise.

Other than that, how was the play Mrs. Lincoln?

the resignation could be orchestrated. mcchrystal prostrates himself on the alter of obama, but the commander in chief magnanimously refuses to accept the resignation.

obama gets a double whammy.

“Obama has not yet accepted it.”

I don’t get it. If you resign, you resign. Both parties do not have to agree.

I expect O will NOT accept the resignation. He fears what the General will say if he’s totally off the leash.

IMHO, the resignation works best for Obama. Now O isn’t faced with looking thin-skinned if he fires him, or weak if he keeps him. To me, this is the only viable “out” for Obama at this time.

Having read the article, I really don’t see McChrystal coming out and going after O in any way. To me, the article was much harsher on McChrystal and his COIN strategy. Quite a lot of mention of troops’ feeling that their hands were tied.

If I was him, I`d just resign and skip tomorrow`s meeting all together. Now that would be a REAL message for “The Lord of the Flies”.

The ROE suck in Afghanistan

Mainly because of Obama and his ineptitude, never mind his love of moslems and their religion of murder.

McChry was smart to resign and he should only stay on if Obama and his anti-war anti-American advisers allow him free reign to conduct a real war with winning strategies.

Shut up and act like a leader, community organizer vacation addicted Barack Hussein.

If Obama accepts McChrystal’s resignation, I would interpret that as probably meaning Obama has decided to surrender Afghanistan.

McChrystal’s plan on counterinsurgency strategy, with its emphasis on minimizing civilian casualties and winning over local populations, is I think the only robust strategy for waging war in Afghanistan that Obama would sign on to.

Obama would never agree to a war plan in which the military forces were authorized to simply go in and obliterate the taliban, with all of the civilian casualties that would entail.

Biden’s plan to have counter-terror strike forces in country available to go after a designated nests of terrorists from time to time would have little effect, and they would end up being observers as the taliban took over control of most of the country and once again made it a relatively safe haven for jihadis the world over.

I think giving a deadline for withdrawal emboldened the taliban, and that if Obama accepts McChrystal’s resignation he will blame the failure of the war on McChrystal, and pull out most of the troops at his deadline. It could be a replay of Vietnam where the Democrats pulled the plug on the South Vietnamese and left them to the tender mercies of their communist enemy.

The most important thing for Obama is assigning blame, and making sure none of it falls on him. You can be sure that how to assign blame for failure in Afghanistan is topic number one for Obama and his advisors in discussing the war effort.

If true, good move by McChrystal. Essentially, he got the truth out there. The Punk-in-Chief deeply humiliated the General during his interminable “deliberations” re troop numbers for the Afghan. McChrystal found his vindication via the interview. Barack Hussein is too stupid and full of himself to know not to mess with a military leader’s honor.
