EPA overturns 16-year-old Texas permit program

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday officially overturned a 16-year-old Texas air permitting program it says violates the Clean Air Act, leaving some of the country's largest refineries in a state of limbo.

The move comes after years of backdoor bickering, negotiations and public arguments between the EPA and Texas. The argument recently escalated from a battle over environmental issues into a heated political dispute over states' rights.

Gov. Rick Perry has been using it to drive home his contention that President Barack Obama's administration is overreaching, saying in a statement Wednesday that "Texas will continue to fight this federal takeover of a successful state program."

The EPA's decision, announced in a statement, will force some 125 refineries and petrochemical plants to invest millions of dollars to get new permits. Many of the plants may also have to invest in updates to comply with federal regulations.

Ping!

You all read about this a while back, well guess what...they did it.

I hope everyone realizes this is nationalization American style now. If they can go in and overthrow a State Agency...they can do it anywhere, any state, any agency. No court order needed. Have a rebellious state...no problem confiscate their National Guard.

I said it about a month ago when I first posted about this it is precedent setting.

This is Nationalization American Style.

Cornyn has been trying to make nice and sound reasonable about Kagan. He’ll probably still fold...but what if this infuriates him? What if it stiffens his spine, and puts a little fight into him? I realize that’s not the Republican way, but it’s all speculation anyhow. I am dreaming, I guess, but I would love for this to backfire Big Time in Obama’s face. Figuratively speaking.

Perry is much better than White. I just can’t see myself helping the ‘Rat get elected. Getting better candidates are what the primaries are for.

It’s people like you that helped to get Obama elected and hand the democrat marxists complete control of congress. Thanks alot. This is not the time to ‘send a message’...our entire country’s future is at stake. Join a Tea Party or something..and make your wishes known.Staying home or voting for a third party is just going to hand the marxists more power...or is that your REAL agenda here?

I really don't give a shid what you think. I've spent a lifetime supporting the GOP and getting screwed by them. I'm not voting for RINOs anymore, not ever.

A caller to Hannity today said that these refineries in Texas produce 1/3 of the fuel used DAILY in the USA.

look for pump prices to spike in a matter of hours.

I like the idea of shutting off shipments to blue states!!

I like that idea the best. Start a revolution.

“This WILL be Ricks LAST term. Texas conservatives are tired of his RINO A$$.”

Are we talking about 2006-2010 or 2010-2014? Gov. Goodhair is an idiot and a phony and an Aggie to boot; BUT do you really want Bill White in the governorship. We had our chance to kick his @$$ out and blew it. White is for wetbacks. No way we can support him.

Time to eliminate the EPA and the Clean Air Act, as well as all other federal restrictions on energy production and use. Thanks bobsunshine.
