Is Iraq a better place for us having gone in? I believe so. Is Afghanistan going to be a better place for us having gone in, I believe so.

You’re not the only one who thinks as you do. There are a lot of people who agree with you. None the less, we can’t simply take 09/11s and curl up in a corner and die.

We have to do something to make people who think along the lines of the terrorists, realize there will be a heavy price to pay. Otherwise we just fold up and blow away.

Hit us when you want. No problem...

Palpable nonsense.

Steele shows too much ignorance to even have a valid argument against the war.

He wanted simply to score political points against Obama, but to score political points you need some basic tools- knowledge and smarts. Steele has neither.

I don’t totally disagree but Steele does NOT deserve to get fired on this issue. His comments were essentially accurate. First, this is a war of Obama’s choosing. He supported it from the beginning and chose to escalate when president. Second, Steele’s other (less publicized) comments that this is an endless quagmire were spot on. Besides, look who opposes Steele. Do you really want Billy Kristol to be a kingmaker in the GOP.

As a proponent of Affirmative Action, Steele should never have been placed in a position of authority in the GOP. It is time to remedy this mistake.

I don’t know what you’re motivations are, but to call Afghanistan Obama’s war is an out and out lie.

Obama does many terrible damaging things, and if he could I have not a shred of doubt that he would pull out of Afghanistan immediately.

But even with as little regard as Obama has to do right, there are certain things he just must do, he has no choice. Keeping Gitmo open against his will for one example, Afghanistan for another. At least for now.

I don’t know what your problem is with Kristol, but he has absolutely nothing to do with any of this.

Kristol has opinions like almost everyone else. His views today rarely move anything. The last time he was influential was when he sold the pick of Palin to the McCain team.

Many Conservatives thing that a great thing.

He should be replaced but not because of this issue.

He should have been hounded out a year ago after the debacle in 2008.

Steele wasn't elected to RNC Chair until January of 2009. His election ousted Mel Martines who WAS responsible for the debacle.

Steele was clearly picked to act as a foil to the minority status of Obama. He has failed miserably as any kind of leader.

Hmmmmm.... The last two chairs were "minorities". I wonder how the pandering has worked out for the RNC?

Actually, Kristol has been very influential issue since he is the most visible supporter of the anti-Steele chorus on this issue. Look at any news report over the last two days, and you will find him mentioned as a leader in the “get Steele” mob.

Kristol is one guy with an opinion.

The exact same opinion is found from many on this very site.

Shill all you like for Ron Paul’s weenie foreign policy; we’re not buying it. We’re neocons and proud of it. In fact, looks like Steele would be perfect for your little do-nothing Campaign for Liberty club. That is, if it’s okay with racist Rand Paul.

Ah...shouting “racist,” the last refuge of someone losing an argument. You seem to be a subscriber to the Al Sharpton theory of argumentation.

I heard Ken Blackwell the other day on the Steve Malzberg show. He came out with a new book a couple of months ago.

The RNC should have chosen Blackwell.

Thursday that the war in Afghanistan is “a war of Obama’s choosing.” “This was not something that the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in,” Steele told the group, adding that “the one thing you don’t do is engage in a land war in Afghanistan.”

You don’t see anything wrong with that statement? Afghanistan is not something we have actively prosecuted? Where have you and Steele been for the past 9 years?

IMHO, Steele May be a good example of the Peter Principle. Promotion to head the RNC finished him off. He’s now at the level of his incompetence.

Problem is, he doesn’t know it. They never do.
