Paul Krugman’s Spend-Spend-Spend Fantasies
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Joseph Klein

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman argues in his op-ed column on Friday, entitled “Myths of Austerity,” that there is no rational case for fiscal austerity in today’s global economic climate:

Instead, it rests on what we might charitably call sheer speculation, and less charitably call figments of the policy elite’s imagination

Aside from the fact that the “policy elites” in Washington – right up to President Obama himself – are touting fiscal stimulus as more important a priority than getting the public debt under control, Krugman is the one engaging in fantasies of economic recovery through even more robust deficit spending.

We have tried the government stimulus route for more than a year. It has turned out to be an abject failure.

The official government unemployment figure for June declined slightly to 9.5% but only because more than 600,000 people gave up looking for a job in June and were therefore not counted in the official Labor Department unemployment figures.

Krugman's answer is pretty easy to predict:

1) Not long enough time.
2) Not enough money.
3) Not the correct Commissars.
4) You are a doody-head.

(OK, I made the last one up. But I bet he uses it in his next column anyway!)

Krugman is a psychopath.

A brilliant psychopath, but still evil/crazy.

I protest Paul Krugman being called “Brilliant”. If he was so smart how come he wasn't able to help his wife's family company General Growth Properties from going bankrupt??????????

Spend spend spend .... our kids’ money. The fiscal burden (costs, clean up crew) has to land somewhere over time.

Krugman has no shame — what a greedy immature bass turd.

The key to understanding Krugman is to realize that he hates America and Americans. The more hot coals he can help heap onto the heads of Americans, the happier he is. So of course, he insists that the solution to all your problems is to shoot yourself in the head and die. And if he can make money while doing it, so much the better.

Krugman is mentally outmatched by even a basset hound.

Yes and he is typical of the writers at the NY Times. Once upon a time I had a 6-month subscription to the NY Times. It was a gift that I got from a friend (yes, I know it sounds crazy but true). The NY Times wasn't without its attributes. It had a good Features Section and the writing in the Sports Section is second to none.

But when it comes to news and opinion (particularly opinion) is isn't fix to wrap fish in. The Opinion Page is essentially insane and they inject opinion into almost all of their news stories. It's an ideological newspaper. There's no getting around it. They are almost always wrong about almost everything.

Occasionally I will get a request from the NY Times to restart my circulation. I never renewed after my 6-month subscription but I guess my name is still in their computer as an ex subscriber. A have a standard letter that I've written to state what's wrong with the newspaper as I send the information back to them declining to start a subscription. Of course the postage is prepaid. I've never received a reply. Mr. Sultzberger, I'm waiting for a reply.

Krugman exemplifies precisely what is wrong with America. We are being ruled by the idiot savant elites and there are too many drones willing to give their support to this self destructive anti-nationalist movement.

“We are being ruled by the idiot savant elites”

On the bight side, Krugman’s credibility is null.

He has lost any credibility he may have had.

You must admit Krugman has this one set up pretty well. He knows very tough times are coming. He urges massive stimulus, knowing it won’t happen. When the tough times continue, he continues to write that the problem is lack of govt spending. If some stimulus is passed, it won’t be “enough”, explaining away the failure of said stimulus.

The only thing that could go wrong for him would be a quick recovery. Even he knows that won’t happen.

Krugman is an economic low life. I have never heard him propose a solution that did not involve a government spending orgy. I think he was asleep during his economics 101 course because he is the only economist I know that doesn’t understand the basics of economics. No wonder 9 Norwegian fellow traveller socialists decided to award him a Nobel prize.

Krugman, who as James Taranto of the Wall St. Journal reminds us almost daily, was an Enron adviser, is today’s most vocal proponent of the discredited Keynesian School of Economics.

The Austrian School of Economic Theory is much closer to how the world works.

Undoubtedly, many of you have seen this, but if you managed to miss it, this is quite instructive (by the way, this is the work of some very credible economists):
